FSPA Announces Additions To Faculty In The Music And Dance Departments

The Franklin School for the Performing Arts (FSPA) has announced additions to the faculty in the school's Music and Dance departments. Classes are now underway in FSPA's 25th anniversary season under the direction of founder Raye Lynn Mercer. Since 1985 the school has offered programs for serious study in the arts as well as classes for recreation at 38 Main Street in downtown Franklin.

Joining the FSPA Music faculty this fall are Angelina Calderon (Voice), Bryan Eyberg(Piano), Irina Fainkichen (Violin) and Priscilla Noyes-Kjorlaug (Piano). With a Masters Degree from New England Conservatory, Calderon specializes in classical song literature, collaborative works of emerging composers and oratorio. She is also a member of the Lorelei Ensemble, a women's chamber choir. Eyberg returns to the FSPA Piano Faculty with experience as a pianist, keyboardist and composer. He holds a Masters Degree from the University of Michigan and has years of experience teaching throughout the midwest and northeast. Fainkichen studied violin at the Rachmaninoff Music College, Leningrad State Conservatory and Rubin Academy of Music and Dance. She joins FSPA with many years of teaching and performing experience both abroad and in the states. Noyes-Kjorlaug holds a Masters Degree in Piano Pedagogy and Performance. Having experience teaching students of all ages, she joins FSPA as both instructor and accompanist.

FSPA instructors Kitty Cheung-Evans and Dorothy Brown have joined the staff of FSPA's Little Music School. Under the direction of FSPA Assistant Director Kim Rezendes. Currently 80 children ages 18 months - 5 years old are enrolled in this specialized and successful children's music program.

New to the FSPA Dance faculty teaching Hip Hop and Jazz is Jaclyn Thompson who has recently moved back to the area after dancing professionally in New York City. Thompson holds an MFA in Dance Performance and Choreography and has served as guest artist throughout the US teaching various styles of dance to students of all ages. Suellen Haag joins the Dance faculty as an Instructor of Modern. With a MFA in Dance, Haag has extensive performing experience and currently serves as Managing Director of the Sokolow Dance Foundation.

The FSPA faculty now includes 30 instructors in the departments of Music, Dance and Drama. . "I am very proud of the tenure of so many of our teachers. Our extraordinary instructors are invested in the FSPA community and the attrition among faculty is very low," notes Mercer, "We are pleased to welcome our talented new faculty members this season."
