Dean College School of the Arts to Stage SPRING AWAKENING

By:

The Dean College School of the Arts will end its '13-'14 season of theatre with Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik's electrifying new musical, Spring Awakening. The show is directed and choreographed by Dori Bryan-Ployer. Musical Direction by Nicholas Foster. Costume Design by Daniel B. Kozar. Set Design by Michael Duarte. TD - James T. Beauregard.

The cast includes Alex G. Boyle as Melchoir, LillIan Kelly as Wendla, Robert E. White as Moritz, and Alex Sweeney as Ilse.

SPRING AWAKENING celebrates the unforgettable journey from youth to adulthood with a power, poignancy and passion that you will never forget. The beautiful young Wendla explores her young life, brilliant and fearless young Melchior defends his buddy Moritz -- a boy so traumatized by adolescence he can't concentrate on anything. One afternoon in the woods, Wendla and Melchior discover a desire unlike anything they've ever felt. SPRING AWAKENING explores the confusion and desperation that ensue when the onrushing tide of life meets the ignorance of adults.

The '13 - '14 season has already included Beth Henley's CRIMES OF THE HEART and Kander and Ebb's CABARET. The season will also include William Shakespeare's MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING, which runs from February 26th - March 2nd.

Dean College holds a strong tradition of presenting professional quality theatre each season. The School of the Arts looks forward to announcing the '14-'15 season in the coming months.
