A Fundraiser for Cotuit Center for the Arts
and the American Cancer Society
Directed by Melinda Gallant
A.R. Gurney's Love Letters chronicles the relationship between a man and a woman solely through their correspondence. This production traces the lifelong correspondence of the staid, dutiful lawyer Andrew Makepeace Ladd III and the lively, unstable artist Melissa Gardner. The story of their bittersweet relationship gradually unfolds from what is written - and what is left unsaid - in their letters. The words are both hysterical and moving; the audience comes to know both of them intimately - from their strict WASP upbringing, through later life political aspirations, love affairs, military service and artistic ambitions.

For more information contact Patrick Pope at patrick@cotuitcenterforthearts.orgThe Persuasions are one of the longest-lasting, most prolific a cappella groups around. As a matter of fact, they are acknowledged as The Kings Of a cappella. Since their inception on the streets of Brooklyn, NY in 1961, they've gone on to inspire hundreds of imitators, record with many award-winning artists, be featured in movie soundtracks and much, much more. While generally reffered to as a "doo-wop" group, The Persuasions are so much more. A large percentage of their repertoire falls under the doo-wop umbrella, but they're just as comfortable in contemporary, gospel, Christmas, or kid's music! Since those long ago days in 1962, the Persuasions have gone on to sing in concert halls, clubs, and perform the world over.
