Cotuit Center Announces Auditions for 39 STEPS, 4/28 & 4/30
Cotuit Center for the Arts is auditioning for The 39 Steps by Patrick Barlow, based on the movie by Alfred Hitchcock, which was adapted from a book by John Buchan. A bored Englishman in 1935 London - intrigue and secret agents, murder, the Scottish moors, protection of the nation... LOTS OF ACTION, ACCENTS AND COMEDY by four performers. Looking for three men and one woman: Richard Hannay, an Englishman, two Men (called Clowns) for dozens of roles, and one woman, who plays a doomed German secret agent, an innocent Scottish wife, and the lovely Pamela.

This award-winning treat is packed with nonstop laughs, over 150 zany characters played by 4 actors, an on-stage plane crash, handcuffs, missing fingers and some good old-fashioned romance! In The 39 Steps, a man with a boring life meets a woman with a thick accent who says she's a spy. When he takes her home, she is murdered. Soon, a mysterious organization called "The 39 Steps" is hot on the man's trail in a nationwide manhunt that climaxes in a death-defying finale!
