Cape Rep opens it's 2016 season with the Cape Cod premiere of MY NAME IS ASHER LEV, by Aaron Posner, adapted from the acclaimed novel by Chaim Potok. This gripping drama tells the story of a young man in post-war Brooklyn whose budding artistic genius threatens to destroy his relationship with his strict orthodox faith and his deeply religious parents. Adapted from the best selling novel by Chaim Potok (author of The Chosen) and winner of the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best New Off Broadway play MY NAME IS ASHER LEV asks how can you choose between art and faith when your soul cries out for both?

Associate Artistic Director, Maura Hanlon, directs. Set Designer Ryan McGettigan reunites with Hanlon after many successful collaborations, most recently with last season's Failure: A Love Story, and are joined by Lighting Designer William Sammons.

The company features an impressive line up of actors including Marty Brent, last seen in Cape Rep's Next to Normal, as Asher, Amanda Collins, from Cape Rep's world premiere production of Good Bye, Mary Rose, as The Women and Neil McGarry as The Men, last seen in Steel Pier.

Cape Rep's 2016 season opens with MY NAME IS ASHER LEV by Aaron Posner, adapted from the novel by Chaim Potok running May 5 through June 5 followed by the Tom Stoppard comedy Rough Crossing, June 23 through July 23. The Tony Award winning Hairspray The Broadway Musical plays from August 3 through September 3. The Woman in Black will haunt the stage from September 15 through October 16 and the season will close with Cape Cod premier of the Tony winning hit, Peter and the Starcatcher, playing from November 3 through December 4. Our Outdoor Theater Children's Show is A Year with Frog and Toad based on the books by Arnold Lobel which runs Tuesdays & Wednesdays, June 28 through August 31 along with Mary Wilson's popular Pitter Patter Puppets on Thursdays from July 7 through August 25.
