Caitlyn Jenner to Speak at Camp Lightbulb Benefit in Provincetown

By:
This summer on June 30, Caitlyn Jenner will appear as the special guest speaker at "A Benefit for Camp Lightbulb" at Provincetown's Town Hall.

Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as Bruce, captured global attention a year ago, in April of 2015, when she revealed to the world that she is a transgender woman.

Jenner will join host singer/songwriter Zoe Lewis and performers Well-Strung and Varla Jean Merman in benefiting Camp Lightbulb, which provides a magical summer camp experience in Provincetown for LGBTQ youth ages 14-17.

Puck Markham, Executive Director stated "Camp Lightbulb's theme for our 5th annual year is True You - as we help our campers on their journey to find their Truest Self. We are extremely excited that Caitlyn will be joining us this year as she truly embodies what that journey to finding yourself is all about."

The benefit will also feature performances by the Camp Lightbulb campers.

For tickets and more information visit www.ptownarthouse.com or call 800-838-3006.

Camp Lightbulb launched in August of 2012. Its mission includes celebrating LGBTQ young people by providing them with what it describes as "the best summer ever in a magical, week-long, overnight summer camp experience, filled with fun, pride, community, friends, support, self-discovery and memories to last a lifetime." Nearly half of its campers receive a full or partial scholarship to attend the camp. Camp Lightbulb was founded by Puck Markham, a Dutch-American formerly of PaineWebber and Barclays Bank, and founder of Community Money, a UK-based social enterprise which provided financial education to low income families.

Markham's mission for Camp Lightbulb originated from personal experience, stating that "Growing up can be tough. Growing up LGBT is that much tougher. As a gay man I want to create a special place that is a stepping stone in life for the younger members of our community as they figure out who they truly are, surrounded by peers, support and an embracing community."

Camp Lightbulb complies with regulations of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, is licensed by the local Board of Health, and is a member of the American Camp Association and the Massachusetts Camp Association.

Caitlyn Jenner first told her story during an ABC News 20/20 special interview with Diane Sawyer, watched by more than 17 million total viewers. In June of 2015, she revealed her new name and look in the now famous cover of Vanity Fair's July issue, which drew more than 9 million unique visitors to its website in a single day, the most ever for the site. She was named a runner-up for TIME's Person of the Year in 2015 and was honored with the Arthur Ashe Award for Courage at the 2015 ESPYs. In 1976, Jenner represented the United States and broke the world record by scoring 8,634 points in the decathlon at the Olympic Games in Montreal, earning the title of "World's Greatest Athlete." After this remarkable accomplishment, Caitlyn's many projects spanned sports, business, publishing, film, and television. She is perhaps best known for her part on E! Network's Keeping up with the Kardashians, the highest-rated series in the network's history, documenting the daily lives of the Kardashian / Jenner family. Currently, Caitlyn can be seen on her new E! Network show, I Am Cait, for which she is also an executive producer. The show documents her life post-transition as she learns more about the transgender community, and allows viewers to meet a diverse group of transgender people. Despite her busy career and lifestyle, Jenner also finds time to enjoy her own hobbies including flying planes, racing cars in Grand Prix events, working on her golf game, and spending time with her children - Burt, Casey, Brandon, Brody, Kendall, and Kylie; her stepchildren - Kourtney, Kim, Khloe, and Rob; and her seven grandchildren.

A BENEFIT FOR CAMP LIGHTBULB is made possible by the generous support of The Anchor Inn Beach House and Ross' Grill.
