ANNE OF GREEN GABLES Opens Weston Friendly Society’s 125th Anniversary Season, CAROUSEL Auditions Held 12/8-10

By:

The first production of the Weston Friendly Society's 125th Anniversary Season, "Anne of Green Gables: The Musical," is less than two weeks away, and auditions for our spring production, Rodgers and Hammerstein's "Carousel" will be December 8,9 & 10, 2009!

In 1999, Time magazine, it its "Best of the Century" list, named "Carousel" the Best Musical of the 20th century, writing that Rodgers and Hammerstein "set the standards for the 20th century
musical." With a moving and dramatic storyline and hit songs like "If I Loved You," "June is Bustin' Out All Over," and the timeless "You'll Never Walk Alone," it is easy to understand why the show received this distinction.

Auditions will take place on Tuesday, December 8th and Wednesday, December 9th, 2009 at 7:00 PM at the Weston Town Hall (Townhouse Road, Weston, MA). Callbacks will be held on Thursday, December 10th at 7:00PM at the Town Hall.

Auditions are open to those 13 years of age and older. Auditioners should come prepared to sing 32 bars of a ballad in the style of the show (please bring sheet music); it is acceptable to sing from the show, although not required. Cold readings will be done from the script. A short dance routine will be taught at the time of auditions, so please wear suitable clothing and shoes.

This production is being directed by Robert Grady and music directed by Chris Roppola. Rehearsals will be on Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday evenings from 7-10 PM.

Performances will be as follows:

Saturday, April 10th at 8:00 PM, Sunday, April 11th at 2:00 PM, Friday, April 16th at 8:00 PM, Saturday, April 17th at 2:00 & 8:00 PM

For audition forms, please visit our website at www.westonfriendly.org.

The Weston Friendly Society of the Performing Arts is proud to bring one of the most beloved family books to life with "Anne of Green Gables: The Musical." Adapted by Donald Harron from the novel by L. M. Montgomery, with music by Norman Campbell, this classic story recounts the poignant and funny story of Anne Shirley, the spunky, red-headed orphan who comes to Prince Edward Island hoping to find a happy home. Directed by Mary-Liz Murray, music directed by Bethany Aiken, and choreographed by Colleen Grady, "Anne of Green Gables: The Musical" is sure to be a hit with the entire family.

Performances are at the Weston Town Hall on: Saturday, November 28th at 2:00 PM and 8:00 PM, Sunday, November 29th at 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 5th at 2:00 PM and 8:00 PM, Sunday, December 6th at 2:00 PM

Orchestra tickets (cabaret seating) are $22 for adults and $19 for seniors and children 12 and under, and balcony seats (traditional seating) are $19 for adults and $16 for seniors and children.
