A YEAR WITH FROG & TOAD Opens 2/26 At Stoneham Theater
A Year With Frog & Toad, opening Thursday, February 26 at Stoneham Theatre, follows the year-long adventures of Frog and Toad and their animal friends-Snail, Bird, Mole and Lizard. The jazzy, family-friendly Broadway musical is based on the whimsical children's stories by Arnold Lobel. The story represents a compilation of different books in the series.
The show was conceived by Adrianne Lobel (Lobel's daughter) and the stories were adapted to a theatrical script by her husband, actor Mark Linn-Baker, who also played Toad when the show debuted on Broadway in 2003.
The Stoneham Theatre production features Steve Barkhimer as Frog, Edward M. Barker at Toad, and Mary Callanan, Phil Crumrine, and Ceit McCaleb as their animal friends. It is directed by Artistic Associate Caitlin Lowans. Choreography is by Ilyse Robbins, Music Direction by Mario Cruz, Lighting Design by Chris Fournier, Costume Design by Joanna Murphy, Set Design by Audra Avery, and Sound Design by Robbie Jarvis.
Boston audiences will recognize their surroundings; this production is set on the Boston Common and costume and set designs will incorporate Boston-specific elements, such as area university apparel and landmark buildings.
Quirky musical numbers include "Getta Loada Toad," "Cookies," and "I'm Coming Out Of My Shell."
A Year With Frog & Toad runs Thursday, February 26 through Sunday, March 15. Tickets are $40(Adult), $35(Senior), and $20(Student). Stoneham Theatre is located at 395 Main Street in Stoneham.
