Stage Coach Theatre invited me to their dress rehearsal for the review of YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN. I am extremely excited to see this show. I have seen what few YouTube videos that are out there, we own the DVD of the Mel Brook's film, and I bought the sound track as soon as I knew of its existence. (I had received a free sample of songs from 9 musicals and "Together Again" was one of the songs, I fell in love at once, I wanted to see this musical.

During the director's speech we learn that this is the first Run Through. They had a few disappointments with their deliveries for equipment and they will have to "make do" as all in the theatre are used to doing.

They will have some work to do. The scene changes are a bit awkward, they are silent and still working out where some of the set pieces go. The singing is good however the levels will need some more tinkering. Sometimes you can hear the voices more than the music, other times the opposite is true. I am sure they will be able to fix it fairly easily.

One of the great things about this musical is there are many "featured" numbers. Many character get their moment in the spotlight to tell their story and sing. Their usual short monologues are instead featured humorous songs. Of course the leads get their songs, and their songs are humorous as well.

I guess I should tell you a bit about the plot at this stage. This is the story of the Frankenstein family. Victor Von Frankenstein has passed away and his only living relative is his grandson who is a neurosurgeon in New York. He goes to Transylvania to wrap up his grandfather's estate and return to his job at John Hopkin's and his fiancée. Of course once he meets his "stooge" Igor, his new lab assistant Helga, and his housekeeper Frau Blucher, nothing goes to plan. See the show to find out what the future holds for Fredrick Frankenstein.

This show will be entertaining audiences in the Treasure valley and making them laugh all night for the length of their run. The show is running from October 9th - October 31st check their website for times and ticket sales (A few show are already sold out). Stage Coach Theatre
