Adam Enright to Star in HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH at Boise Contemporary Theater

Boise Contemporary Theater announced today the full cast and crew for the 21st Season opener, Hedwig and the Angry Inch-led by NYC-based actor and singer, Adam Enright, and one of Boise's most gifted musicians, Thomas Paul.

John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask's landmark Hedwig and the Angry Inch puts you front row for a rollicking performance of Hedwig Robinson's band "The Angry Inch." During the show, Hedwig steps out to tell her story about her childhood in East Berlin, her botched sex change, and her life as a transgender rocker in America. Hedwig is a funny, fun and cathartic journey of self-realization. It is the musical that set the standard for the contemporary American rock musical when it debuted Off- Broadway in 1998.

The BCT production offers a Pay-What-You-Want general admission door-sales-only preview on Wednesday, Oct. 5 and a ticketed preview on Thursday, Oct. 6. It opens on Friday, Oct. 7. The show runs Wednesdays through Saturdays for three weeks, October 5-22, 2016. All shows begin at 8 pm with doors at 7; and there are matinees at 2 pm the last two Saturdays of the run, Oct. 15 and 22. Adam Enright was cast as Hedwig in the upcoming Boise production after a nationwide search. He is an accomplished and highly talented actor, writer and singer based in NYC and performs regularly at Joe's Pub at The Public Theater in his alt-cabaret Good Bitch Goes Down, and more recently in 2Scoops: The Legendary Chart Topping Entirely Fictional 90's R&B Girl Group, which he writes and performs with comedy partner Aaron Fuksa. He is also a Progressive Theater Workshop associate artist having performed in both Cake (Dixon Place) and God Hates This Show (HERE Arts Center).

Mr. Enright returns to the role of Hedwig after starring in Hedwig and The Angry Inch in Los Angeles. Other credits include The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Mason Street Warehouse) and Williamsburg! The Musical (NY Fringe.) He sings with Erin and Her Cello, a band led by Boise native Erin Hall. His television and film credits include Mozart in The Jungle (Amazon), Power (Starz) and the upcoming films Landline and Drunk Parents.

Boise-based rising-star Tess Worstell plays Hedwig's assistant, back-up singer and husband, Yitzhak. Ms. Worstell is a multi-talented actress/musician and has been seen and heard in several BCT Children's Reading Series plays, and on stage at Company of Fools, Idaho Shakespeare Festival, and Boise State University, where she graduated last year with her BA in Theater Performance.

Hedwig's band, The Angry Inch, is headed up by the multi-talented, multi-instrumentalist local singer- songwriter Thomas Paul On guitars and vocals. Mr. Paul is regarded as one of the region's most versatile, gifted musicians. In addition to leading his own band, he can be found playing with New Transit, Tracy Morrison, El Dopamine, Andy Byron Band and a host of other projects, including the Boise Philharmonic Master Chorale. Mr. Paul's band leadership is enhanced by three dynamic and gifted musicians: Melanie Radford (Marshall Poole, G¡RLCR3W) on bass and vocals; Riley Anne Johnson (G¡RLCR3W, The Western Mystics,) on piano, keys and vocals; and Louis McFarland (New Transit, Chuck Smith Trio, Clay Moore, a.k.a. Belle) on drums, percussion and vocals.

Local sculptural artist Sue Latta steps into her first role as Scenic Designer on Hedwig. During Ms. Latta's 20 years as a working artist, she has mounted 20 solo exhibitions of her artwork, and has created public art. Her work is included in collections throughout the U.S. and Canada. Ms. Latta teaches a variety of three-dimensional disciplines at the Sculpture Studio in Downtown Boise. More information about Ms. Latta can be found on her website: www.suelatta.com.

BCT resident Scenic Designer, Michael Baltzell, whose work was seen in last season's A Skull in Connemara, returns as Technical Director for Hedwig. Mr. Baltzell was the recipient this year of the prestigious Governor's Award for Excellence in the Arts, and has worked with BCT as designer, director, writer and even actor for nearly 20 years. His scenic designs will also be seen this season in A Nighttime Survival Guide, for which he will also serve as Puppet Designer.

Darrin Pufall returns to BCT as Costume Designer for Hedwig. Based on early designs, Hedwig's and Yitzhak's clothing will not disappoint. The rock-n-roll lighting for Hedwig is designed by Raquel Davis, another resident designer for BCT. Resident Voice and Dialect Coach Ann Price guides the East Berlin dialect work of Mr. Enright and Ms. Worstell. Props Master Willow Socia, resident Master Electrician Paul Miller, and resident Sound Technician Tim Long all return for the season.

Hedwig is directed by BCT Artistic Associate Tracy Sunderland, who will also be seen on stage in this season's closer, The Clean House. Ms. Sunderland has directed, created, and acted for BCT for nearly 20 years.
