Don't they already have something like that? I recall hearing someplace that the Cigarette Smoking Man on The X-files smoked something other than tobacco -- something like wheat? I don't know, but it's something! re: Smoking Tobacco Banned on New York Stages

It's really not given that most Broadway shows uses herbal cigarettes anyway--which is still legal.

They generally smoke clove cigarettes, judging from my recollections of the smell during Cabaret. (Sitting in the left orchestra banquette gets you a lot of very close exposure to the cast.) I doubt most singers and actors want to mistreat their voices with tobacco.

I believe I remember an actor in Fosse saying that they smoked herbal cigarettes too.

Oh my GOD! Puh-LEEZE! Ever stood outside a stage door after a show lets out? My voice teacher is so preachy...Stay away from smoke. Don't smoke. Stay away from people who are smoking. You don't want to inhale the stuff! I was so disenchanted after observing so many performers walk out of stage doors and light up the second they set foot outside. I seriously thought that "Broadway performers" would NEVER mistreat their voices like that....What a wakeup for me.

Cadriel: From my expirences smoking Djarums (if thats the right spelling) or clove ciggerettes is actually worse on the lungs and vocal chords. I have seen my friends actually cough up blood after a pack. AndI can barely stand to smoke one. Its more abrasive to smoke herbals than tobacco, at least tobacco can be smooth.

Lol, this is a pretty funny story. I think this is a case of the Smoking Law gone a bit too far. You're not allowed to be naked in public, BAN IT ON THE STAGE!
