I made an unexpected trip to NYC this week for a couple of days, will not go into details why but was interested to see what NYC was like after reading reports in the media for a couple of years. Took several subway lines and they ran frequently and there were no passenger issues. The subway trains I took were clean and thankfully the a/c worked. I stayed in small hotel on E. 45th which was quite nice and enjoyed walking around the city. I was never hassled and saw only a few homeless people; they did not bother anyone. Granted it was only a couple of days, but the city was not as bad as I was led to expect. Maybe it helped that I stayed out of the Times Square area-lol.
