Trying to Remember This Somber Seasonal Tune

Hello, all! I'm new here - just arrived, hoping to get help finding a tune from a musical I heard 27 years ago. I'm losing my mind over here, trying to remember it in great enough detail and coming up short.

Things I know for certain:

-The song was included in a compilation that also featured Castle on a Cloud from Les Miserables.

-I had this compilation on cassette when I was nine years old, which would've been 1994.

-The lyrics contain the words "I remember" and "November."

It's hard to say otherwise for sure how the song really went, as it was so long ago, but I remember it being a sad song about someone going home for the holidays and possibly struggling with either A: being gay and feeling alienated from their family or B: a sibling committing suicide. I realize that isn't a lot to go on, but ugghhh, I'm going crazy trying to remember it! Ironically, as remember is one of the only words I remember. Lol

I also remember the tune, but I have no idea how helpful that will be on this platform. The lyrics aren't exact here, obviously, but this is the best I can offer...

Dum dum dum-dumm, I remeeeember, like it was yesterdaaaay, we hung liiiights and had the same old fiiiights, dum dum dum dummmm....

Again, not the same lyrics exactly. But in the ballpark, I think. 27 years is a long time.

If anyone has any memories of this, I would be so grateful!

Ok after a bit of creative googling, I found this:

It hits on all the lyrics you sort of remember (except it was September, not November), but it doesn't seem to be all that sad as recorded by the Catapults. Maybe it was a cover?

I pulled that up on YouTube and it's definitely not the song I'm thinking of (I'm 99% certain the song I'm thinking of is an original show tune), but I really appreciate you taking the time to look around!

That Catapult song is actually pretty great.

That was my first thought too but I figured it couldn't be that obvious and it doesn't exactly fit the description.

I'm stumped--have you listened to Sondheim's "I Remember" (Sky)  If you read between the lines it could be about the things you mention, though it never says the word November.  I'm going to think on this more...  And I want to follow this thread in case someone solves this case

Betty Buckley did an album in 93 called “Children Will Listen” which was a collection of showtimes dome with a jazz influence. She does Sondheim”s “I Remember” immediately followed by a mashup of “Stay With Me” and “Children and Art” followed by “When There’s No One” from Carrie. It’s a very haunting section of the album. Perhaps this might be it?

Castalbums.org would have a near-complete list of compilations "Castle on a Cloud" appeared on. Perhaps if you go there you'll be able to pinpoint which compilation it was?
