I didn't know he sang, but Wikipedia describes him as " an American announcer, game show host, comedian, actor and singer." This is a cut from his only album, recorded for a minor label in 1963, titled "And Me... I'm Ed McMahon" which was his famous Tonight Show sign-off.
According to WP, when he was young he spent three years as a carnival barker in Maine. With that kind of background and lush, romantic, powerful voice, it's a shame he never played Billy Bigelow. /s
