Young Singers Sought For New Muscal Demos

Young Nashville singers are being sought to record demos for a new untitled musical based on a Biblical story. The show features music by Grammy and Emmy Award winner and Tony Award nominee John McDaniel (The Rosie O’Donnell Show, BONNIE & CLYDE, TABOO, CATCH ME IF YOU CAN) and book and lyrics by Scott Logsdon (Broadway’s LES MISERABLES).

 

The project is a new sung through pop musical that ties a Biblical story into teen bullying. Auditionees will be considered for both featured roles/solos as well an ensemble. Young singers between the ages of 16 and 23 of all vocal types and races are encouraged to audition. The style of the show is contemporary/pop Broadway and not legit. Males should be baritones/high baritones/tenors (we are not seeking true basses who don't have a strong upper range). Females should be either altos with a mix extension or sopranos with a pop/high belt/mix.

 

All auditioning MUST be very strong sight readers with impeccable pitch and the ability to blend. Those selected will have to sign a non-disclosure agreement.

 

The demos will be recorded in Nashville either the last week of August or the first week of September.

 

Those auditioning should submit a 16- 32 bar MP3 recording of a contemporary Broadway song that shows vocal range and acting abilities. A headshot/picture and resume should be submitted at the same time. Songs can be done to either piano or a track- no a cappella tracks will be accepted. Recordings can be done on a phone or a digital recorder.

 

Examples of appropriate shows for audition material would be 25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE, AIDA, ALADDIN, ALTAR BOYZ, BARE, BAT BOY, BEAUTIFUL, BONNIE AND CLYDE, BOOK OF MORMON, CARRIE, SCARLET PIMPERNEL, THE COLOR PURPLE, CRY BABY, DREAMGIRLS, EVITA, GODSPELL, GREASE, HAIRSPRAY, JOSEPH…DREAMCOAT, KINKY BOOTS, LEGALLY BLONDE, NEXT TO NORMAL, ONCE, ONCE ON THIS ISLAND, PIPPIN, RENT, ROCKY HORROR SISTER ACT, SONG AND DANCE, SPRING AWAKENING, TABOO, THE WEDDING SINGER, THE WIZ & XANADU. Pop songs in the vein of Billy Joel or Elton John would also be appropriate.
