Sorry to be that guy but I have a seat in the very front row, center aisle. For those who've seen the show : how high is the stage ? Do you think my seat could be obstructed ? I'm fairly tall but still...
THANKS!

you are right, the stage is high. I was in the second row toward the right. i wondered before the show began if I would have problems but I had no problems at all. not uncomfortable. could see just fine. I love being this close to a show.

Horrible play. Messy, bad acting... only the sets are good.

I absolutely loved the show. The set design (very fancy house, plus the use of dry ice to make a realistic pond, rotating set) was phenomenal. Mary Louise Parker and Danny Burstein were great, as were all the other actors. The show received very hearty applause and screaming at the performance I attended.

It's a very simple story: Dad dies, and Mom has to raise her two sons as a widow. One son (Duncan) is off to war and the other son (Arnold) stays home. The family is broke, and you soon learn why. You really feel a lot of emotions throughout the show, with the screaming, the commotions, the gun scene, even the flashback dream sequence, etc. The poignant life lessons you hear are close to the heart: the advice that the maid tells Arnold late in Act II, the advice that Clarissa gives Arnold late in Act II along with her gift, the reason why the mom (Elizabeth) acts the way she does is explained in Act II.

This show got quite a few positive reviews and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who's on the fence about seeing it. Great cast, great set, poignant life lessons.

One of the biggest disappointments I've had in quite a while. I love most of these actors and they were game but the story--or lack thereof--seemed to defeat even these pros. Lackluster and inert. A depressing evening in the theatre. I was a big fan of The Other Place so had high hopes for this one. Those hopes were misguided in this instance. Still, I eagerly await his next play. There is some lovely language here--unfortunately it's trapped in a terribly boring play.
