A community theater FOLLIES....  Sep 28 2010, 09:53:20 PM
I was in that production. First off I'd like to ask how many of you have put up Follies? It's not an easy show at all. The director had a few interesting and unusual concepts and maybe you dont agree with them but at least he took a chance, so please give a little credit for a difficult undertaking. Next I would like to say this was not our best performance but it was the one we scheduled to be taped professionally so the video clips we had to remember the production came from this one. We didn
karen olivo's return?  Aug 2 2010, 04:08:29 PM
Sorry, I guess I was mistaken. I thought they had updated the WSS website and the cast list on playbill.com with the person taking over for her during her absence. Thanks for the info everyone.

I see her name on the cast lists. Is she officially back? I was considering bringing someone to WSS and I was wondering who would be seeing.
Rock of Ages Discount Code Past Sept 5?  Jul 30 2010, 03:40:06 PM
Yeah, I remember how the discount business works from my box office days :) Just figured I'd try here to see if they had released one that extended to a later date that I missed somewhere. Thanks for the quick response!
Rock of Ages Discount Code Past Sept 5?  Jul 30 2010, 11:20:01 AM
My friends and I want to see Rock of Ages again for a date in September but I haven't been able to find a discount code that works for performances past Sept 5. Does anyone have one?

Thanks!!

re: Thoughts: 'Repo: The Genetic Opera' on Broadway?  Mar 8 2010, 02:11:21 PM
Wow, just read the plot synopsis for Repo Men. Unless I'm missing something, this is text book copyright infringement. Surprised there hasn't been legal action.
Kristina At Carnegie Hall CD Date for USA  Mar 8 2010, 09:48:19 AM
I completely forgot they were releasing this. I thought the show was ok, but it did have some great songs.

I actually enjoyed the movie more the second time I saw it. They were doing a viewing with a shadowcast on Long Island a few weeks ago. I wanted to go but could't get to it. I hope it comes to a theater in my area.
I know I'm gonna get crap for this post, but I need to ask....  Mar 6 2010, 11:07:40 PM
Very true. The making of video of ROA seemed to imply that wasn't an easy task. And I'm sure there are plenty of other hurdles too. As mentioned, translating this particular movie to the stage would be challenging.

If I had to take an educated guess, it probably hasn't worked out yet because it's a huge undertaking to get the rights for those songs to be used on stage.
Seeing SONDHEIM in person.  Mar 6 2010, 10:36:37 PM
I've seated him a few times as an usher/house manager and he was very nice but then again I wasn't able to really strike up a conversation with him.

I replied with my day choice and got a reply asking me to select three choices for my interview time but I haven't received anything back confirming a time yet.
1985 FOLLIES in concert.  Mar 6 2010, 10:19:38 AM
I was involved in a production of Follies a few months ago. It's a very interesting show. I had mixed feelings about the DVD. It was great to see the big numbers and hear about some of the process but I'm not sure if it truly captured some of the nuances of the show provided by the script.

It was one of the only shows in the community theater's history that divided the audience so clearly. They either loved it and thought it was one of the best shows they've ever seen or thought it

My entry was about 2 paragraphs. They were pretty long paragraphs though. I'm sorry JP2, I wish I had a second ticket to offer you!

Ad Rejected Over Puppet Cleavage  Feb 23 2010, 04:38:04 PM
I'm not usually one for gratuitious sex or violence in any art form but sometimes it's appropriate for the piece. In this case I think it is, which makes oen think, do they even know anythign about this show that they've booked? and for crying out loud, they're felt boobs. I'm pretty sure I can easily find more graphic ads with real people that probably didn't get a second look.
