Jagged Little Pill preview thread  Nov 6 2019, 09:13:27 PM

I quite liked the show. Was it particularly groundbreaking and inventive? No but I was entertained during the show (both times I saw it).  Seeing it on Tuesday I noticed that cut out some smaller parts from act one (like when the characters asked Derek's character to come to a party to celebrate his Harvard admission) and I do think they are trying to find ways to tighten act 1 up pacing wise.

Talking to Patten after the show she did say there were more changes that they were

I saw JLP at ART. I know it has its flaws, but I really liked it regardless. Chalk it up to growing up in the 90s

As far as I can tell they scrapped Jo being nonbinary. They make veiled hints at it but they don't come out and explicitly say she's non binary which may have to do with the backlash they got from fans with the Patten casting in ghat type of role.

Theater & Previews  Nov 2 2019, 10:53:33 AM

Hey so I'm doing a feature piece on the preview process for a theater show and I was wondering those that have seen shows while in previews--why do you choose to see a piece while in previews, if you see the piece again after opening do you find yourself looking for any changes that might have been made from previews, how important (or unimportant) do you think the preview process is, and in general what are any thoughts you might have on the preview process.

BEN PLATT Music Tour  May 15 2019, 01:13:59 PM
So Ben is going to be playing at radio city music hall on September 29th if anyone missed out on his NY show last night. I’m surprised at how well his tour has sold the record company must be happy.

oh that’s part of why I really liked the initial songs. It’s different than what is playing on most of the radio today. To each their own. I like where the album is going.

I’m fully prepared for this to lead to nothing but I do hope we get a revival of Parade soon!

This cast is.....interesting

Did anyone go to the Dear Evan Hansen novel event?  Oct 9 2018, 06:18:32 PM

I did. The event was really interesting, our event lasted about 2 hours but there were several special guests that won’t be the same at every event. The event was super engaging and funny, I’d never really heard Benj, Justin, or Stephen talk about the process of writing the works, cutting songs, and just the creative process. Val was nice too. Have fun!

Spielberg's West Side Story  Oct 2 2018, 12:15:50 PM

I don’t understand the like contempt for Ben because of his dad. He’s been remarkably open and honest in stating that his dad has likely helped open doors within the industry for him so like he’s admitted this. Why can’t people on these boards accept that and move on. If you don’t like him and his performance abilities but just say that and stop hiding behind the father excuse.

THE WAVERLY GALLERY (2018) Previews  Oct 2 2018, 12:50:24 AM

I went to the show tonight and I thought the play was really solid. I thought that the cast gave really good performances and the last fifteen minutes were heartachingly real. The only annoyance I had was I sat in front of two pool who work with the show and they were taking notes and whispering furiously to each other, they seemed upset at someone’s lack of urgency in speaking but I didn’t catch who. I understand the show is in previews and they need to take notes etc but they we

Yes... and asking about a possible bargain at both tables at around 6PM, I was greeted with two rather ...um... rude (another word I'd like to use, but I'm a gentleman) replies... A rather smug woman at the HOH booth gave me

I think last years it was about a week out from the event. Maybe a little bit more.

Egot  Sep 10 2018, 11:51:06 AM

Most award pundits think that the acting Emmy is Darren Criss’es to lose. And EGOT is an EGOT just becsuse you don’t like someone or how they achieved it doesn’t make it any less real or special. Moreover why do people care like?
