Did anyone go to the Dear Evan Hansen novel event in NYC on Monday? What was it like, and how long did it go for? I am going on Wednesday in Philadelphia and am not sure what to expect. Thanks in advance!

I did. The event was really interesting, our event lasted about 2 hours but there were several special guests that won’t be the same at every event. The event was super engaging and funny, I’d never really heard Benj, Justin, or Stephen talk about the process of writing the works, cutting songs, and just the creative process. Val was nice too. Have fun!
broadwaynerdnewbie, thanks! I'm really looking forward to it. Unfortunately, there haven't been any announced special guests, but I'm sure it will be really interesting to hear what they all have to say!

I was there! I definitely recommend watching the performances on Youtube, all of them were stellar (Barrett singing Requiem was debateable...) and all 4 of the authors were such sweethearts in the VIP meet and greet that followed.

is it just me or was barrett like...off pitch the whole time?
I went to the DC event tonight with no special guests and it lasted about 1:15. I enjoyed it a lot, but am also a huge fan of the show.. It was a talk, Q&A, and a few songs from the show mixed in performed by the authors. I had not heard this previously, but learned they had written a song for an early version DEH called "This Is Me" not related to The Greatest Showman song, but still interesting.

It sounded all right in the theater, but I was also expecting a lot worse, honestly.
Darren Criss sounded the absolute roughest of all the guests at Monday's event. He looked and sounded as though he was in pain.

I thought both of them sounded great actually! I was really impressed with all the performances that night.
I was going to, but then I found out how much Pasek, Paul, and Levenson, demeaned for an advance and I decided they don't deserve anymore of my money....
