NY City Center Encores 2024 season: ONCE UPON A MATTRESS with Sutton Foster (adapted by Amy Sherman-Palladino), JELLY'S LAST JAM, and TITANIC  Jan 25 2024, 08:41:58 AM

Pretty sure there were similar complaints here that Sutton was miscast and “no Patti LuPone” for Anything Goes.

NY City Center Encores 2024 season: ONCE UPON A MATTRESS with Sutton Foster (adapted by Amy Sherman-Palladino), JELLY'S LAST JAM, and TITANIC  Jan 24 2024, 09:06:58 PM

At intermission - maybe I am easy to please but this is a lot of fun! Sutton shines!

& JULIET On Broadway - P/reviews & News Thread  Jan 18 2024, 12:51:12 AM

Loved Rachel Webb as Juliet!

Here We Are 1 ticket Sat Nov 18 @ 1:00  Nov 16 2023, 08:25:34 AM

Jin Ha was an excellent Aaron Burr! My favorite of the reopening 2021 cast.

Sondheim/Ives HERE WE ARE @ The Shed  Nov 5 2023, 04:32:30 PM

Got Rush tickets yesterday at 9:20 after trying for All the Devils Are Here until sell out for the first 15 mins of the 9am hour. Whoever suggested to just keep clicking until the system says all tickets are sold out is correct. I was given left GG which someone clearly pulled and dumped due to the sight lines, so thank you whoever dropped them as this show was not top of my list to pay pull price for.

I went in blind but knowing this was not pulling rave reviews. The s

A CHRISTMAS CAROL 2022 Previews  Nov 18 2022, 10:53:21 PM

Fabulous production. Jefferson Mays is a gem. Staging, lighting, sound - everything built to enhance his performance. Probably the best show I’ve seen all year. Don’t miss this!!

Ben Platt and Micaela Diamond to star in NYCC Gala presentation of Parade  Nov 6 2022, 07:12:31 PM

What changes were made from the Broadway version (besides the previously mentioned song cut)? Wiki says the original production was criticized for having too many racial slurs - did they revise the dialogue? I didn’t notice an excessive use.

Agree on Platt - was looking forward to him but he came across as good but not extraordinary. I wonder if he doesn’t know what to do with a non-eccentric role. Loved his Elder Cunningham and Evan.

Lillias White Calling Out Deaf Audience Member For Using CC Device  Oct 14 2022, 12:08:23 AM

soulmistin said: "gibsons2 said: ""She did not wish for hate to be spread, and she absolutely did not want this to escalate to the point it did".

Except the hate and slander towards Lilias has already reached the levels that would be difficult to de-escalate. I'm sure it makes Lilias feel better that Samantha turned down profitable interview opportunities. She should refute her initial statement and clarify what actually happened.

BEETLEJUICE Sets January 8 Closing Date on Broadway  Sep 22 2022, 08:21:54 AM

Sad to hear - Beetlejuice was a fun time. I went twice in early 2020 so likely avoided the worst of the stans which seem to have resurfaced post pandemic.

I often wondered if they were going to survive a principal cast change. Guess not! Pretty good run for them (3 months short of 2 yrs), and unusual for principals to stick around that long. I think the cast really enjoyed the project. Curious to see where Alex lands next.

Lea Michele as Fanny - Funny Girl  Sep 6 2022, 09:54:51 PM

She sounds great! Even if I can’t unhear the vocal “cry”s she does ever since I saw a YouTuber point them out. But she has reduced them a bit.

Beanie Feldstein Departing FUNNY GIRL on July 31 (Two Months Earlier Than Originally Announced)  Aug 10 2022, 10:45:47 AM

Have tickets for the last weekend of Aug (Julie’s original announced weekend before all the fiasco), was looking forward to seeing Lynch. What is with this production? Will take solace in that Liz will likely be better.

New Hermes in Hadestown??  Jul 15 2022, 01:50:46 PM

Is Patrick Page scheduled to return at all? I know Tom Hewitt is on now but they haven’t dropped Patrick from the website.

Beanie Feldstein Departing FUNNY GIRL on July 31 (Two Months Earlier Than Originally Announced)  Jul 15 2022, 11:05:37 AM

Oh man, I hear the Vanessa Bayers in Beanie’s Fanny… that would have 1000% distracted me live. Why??

Beanie Feldstein Departing FUNNY GIRL on July 31 (Two Months Earlier Than Originally Announced)  Jul 14 2022, 08:31:51 PM

Curious as to why FG, to some, is exempt from blind casting. Some are arguing that only does the lead have to be Jewish by birth right but also look like Fanny? What makes this show so special to limit the casting this way? I thought we had moved beyond that.

Unpleasant theater audiences  Jun 27 2022, 08:58:43 AM

Evening weeknight shows (M-Th) tend to have better audiences. The “off-season” (winter) tends to have better audiences as well, or just less people in general.

Most of my audience problems have been weekend and matinees, mostly restless children/teens (although in ASL, it was a restless adult). Phones lights are a problem maybe 1/4 of the time but I try to use my program to block out that area from my line of sight. Front matinee will solve the phone light problem.

The 75th Annual TONY Awards!  Jun 13 2022, 07:09:24 PM

Why in gods name did The Music Man perform THE CURTAIN CALL?? They have so many rousing numbers, this just seemed lazy. Completely forgettable Tony’s performance.

Come From Away Closing Oct 2  Jun 8 2022, 09:16:23 PM

BWW just changed the article title from “Oct 2” to “this fall”.

DEAR EVAN HANSEN Sets September 18 Closing Date on Broadway  Jun 7 2022, 05:33:19 PM

So when’s a good time to go before closing? Is it worth revisiting with the current cast?

2022 Tony Award Performances  Jun 5 2022, 10:35:25 AM

Word from The Girl From North Country house is that Mare will be performing (makes sense). So will be one of Elizabeth’s songs.

A STRANGE LOOP On Broadway - News & Discussion Thread  Jun 5 2022, 01:16:52 AM

Met an Usher today who said A Strange Loop is for people who have seen a lot of theater as it brings such a new, fresh voice and it’s something that viewers have certainly never seen before.

I thought this was a great take - I’m here thinking I’ve seen a lot of theater but I probably really haven’t if I’m easily dazzled by The Music Man.

I really wanted to like A Strange Loop but it left me feeling sad for the main character who is really struggling
