Angela Lansbury Has Passed Away  Oct 13 2022, 04:18:54 PM

I'm just crushed. I know it sounds silly, but I've been crying ever since I heard it. Commiserating with online fans. Been a fan since Mame and followed her career ever since. Only saw her on stage once (for her Gypsy tour), but am grateful for that. I kept hoping there was one more big role in her future, but Father Time won out. Someone as multi-talented as Angela comes along once in a great while. One of the last great stars of stage and screen. R.I.P. I'll miss you!

Yes, I remember when that book came out. (Alas, long before Amazon came into being). I never found a copy locally. WIsh I could find a copy now.

VERY SAD NEWS.

Was never lucky enough to see her on stage, but enjoyed her many film and tv performances starting with The Avengers. Have been a fan of hers ever since. MRS. PEEL, WE'RE NEEDED!

Show with the longest preview period on Broadway?  Jan 13 2020, 02:55:07 PM

Dear World had close to 2 months of previews and would have continued longer, but critics threatened to review the show anyway, and they were forced into an opening night.

How Angela Lansbury got  Jan 9 2020, 01:00:53 PM

Oliver! with Patti suffered a similar fate the same season.

Opened in dead of summer with really bad advancedpublicity (out of town Philadelphia engagement shortened, so they rushed to NY, with very little advanced notice).Tourism wasn’t what it is today (and summer wasn’t whatit istoday), and revivals were a

From what I was told the way the Liberty was boxed in by the developments around it they ended up cutting off too many of their emergency exits to have a capacity of 500+. Assuming that's true, it could be redeveloped into an Off-Bro

From everything I have heard The Times Square can't go legit because when Garth Drabinsky took over the space occupied by the The Apollo and Lyric, he took up the block on 43rd St. and left no room for a loading dock to the Times Sq. Apparently t

Diahann Carroll has passed away  Oct 4 2019, 12:11:27 PM

Whoa. I was just thinking of her the other day........

Angela Lansbury  Sep 26 2019, 01:25:58 PM

Thanks for the info. Yes, I think the opening night was postponed a few times. I have the OCR and the big production numbers seem so out of place. Love the ballads, though.

Angela Lansbury  Sep 25 2019, 04:14:27 PM

Did you see Angela in Dear World?

RIP Phyllis Newman  Sep 16 2019, 01:20:54 PM

I remember her many appearances on The Tonight Show and game shows back in the 60s and 70s. Very funny, talented lady. The Paper Mill recording is my favorite recording of Follies.R.I.P.

What about "I heard the expression in 1969 (and probably before that) when I lived in NY" do you not understand? 1969 isn't the 90's. https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=a%20friend%20of%20Dorothy

I remember hearing it in the 70s.

"

I read the book when it first came out, and was rather disappointed in it. Nothing really interesting about Faye, just a few mentions of her 'diva behavior'. Nothing shocking or surprising for me. (And the book is very short, for those interested in reading this).
"

Yes, I was expecting more dish on Faye as well. I think the book was self-published. As a narrative of what goes on behind the scenes of a film production, I found

I read that book. It was interesting, but there wasn't a lot of dish about Faye. It was more about her life and her experiences making the movie. But, I agree what she did relate wasn't that favorable.

Many times Davis would stress that Crawford was a professional. Always on time. Always knew her lines. Always hit her mark. However, Miriam Hopkins was another story. Davis was highly critical of her.

Cursed theatres / Lucky theatres  Jun 26 2019, 05:41:10 PM

I think the Hellinger in its later years had problems attracting long run shows (aside from Sugar Babies). I think that's one of the reasons the theater was leased, then sold to the Church that owns it now.

It wasn't perfectly constructed and was perhaps a bit long for some, but it was interesting, informative, entertainin
