Whole Backstage Children's Theatre Holds Auditions for Spotlight Kids, 1/28-29

By: Jan. 18, 2011

The Whole Backstage Children's Theatre has been working to enhance its programs for the youth of our communities. This year along with the classes and workshops that have been held in the past a Pre-School Summer Camp and a Musical Theatre Camp will be added to the summer schedule (dates to be released at a later time). Also the WBS Children's Theatre is very pleased to announce the addition of SPOTLIGHT KIDS. After a successful trial-run in the fall, Director Kelleybrooke Brown, felt it was a necessary addition to the program.

SPOTLIGHT KIDS will be a one year commitment. Students must have prior experience in the Whole Backstage Children's Theatre and must audition for the cast. Three adjudicators from outside theatres will adjudicate the auditions for fairness. Those who plan to audition must prepare a 90 second combination of music and monologue (SETC STYLE) and participate in an interview with representatives of the Whole Backstage Theatre. SPOTLIGHT KIDS will serve as "ambassadors" for the Whole Backstage Children's Theatre in their communities, perform a small show, and partake in the 2011 Alabama Conference of Theatre's Community Theatre Competition event in October 2011.

Students ages 9-15 are eligible to audition. Sixteen auditionees with the top scores in both performance and interview will be selected with two alternates selected for an "as needed" basis. A one year fee of $200 will be required of any student cast with no other fees required; however, the cast will be required to participate in at least one class or workshop throughout 2011. Audition Dates are Jan 28 at 6PM and Jan 29 at 10AM and will be held at the Whole Backstage Theatre in Guntersville, AL. For more information on this or any other WBS Children's Theatre event please contact Director, Kelleybrooke Brown at 256-558-6008 or visit our Facebook Page at Whole Backstage Children's Theatre.
