Vagabond Players Closes Season With SOUVENIR: A FANTASIA ON THE LIFE OF FLORENCE FOSTER JENKINS, 6/1 - 7/1

By: May. 15, 2012

The Vagabond Players' final production of its 96th season, Souvenir: A Fantasia On the Life of Florence Foster Jenkins written by Stephen Temperley and directed by Roy Hammond, opens June 1 and runs weekends through July 1.

Souvenir is a touching, wickedly funny tribute to Florence Foster Jenkins, a New York socialite and tone-deaf diva, who thinks she is a great soprano. Her sincerity, ambition, deep love of music and lack of talent brings a unique joy to thousands; her rise to cult status culminates in an infamous sell out Carnegie Hall performance in October, 1944. Chronicled by her brilliant, wry accompanist, Cosme McMoon, this play with music centers on their unlikely friendship; he becomes her champion and protector.

Vagabond Players, America's Oldest Continuously Operating Little Theatre, is located in historic Fells Point at 806 S. Broadway.

Souvenir runs Fridays and Saturdays, 8pm and Sundays at 2pm June 1 – July 1, 2012.
