The Strand Theater Announces Auditions for THE GLORY OF LIVING
By: Lauren Wolman
The Strand is looking for talented actors for the 2003 Pulitzer Prize nominee Rebecca Gilman's The Glory of Living for our October slot in our main-stage season. We are looking for 3 male actors, age ranges from 20-35 and 3 female actors ranging from 15-35. If you are interested; please forward a headshot and resume to director, Jayme Kilburn: jkilburn@strandtheatercomapny.org in order to set-up an audition. The show dates are (October 7-October 23, 2010).
"The Glory of Living is set in the deep rural South where a 15-year old girl, Lisa, the daughter of a prostitute, and Clint, a car thief, run away together to escape the misery of life with her mother. But the happier times that sullenly childlike Lisa yearns for never materialize, as Clint order her to procure young runaways for him. No one notices that these teenage girls are missing until an anonymous call to the police reports their murders. Could the caller--and the killer--be Lisa? Gilman has created a riveting, unsentimental portrait of a young woman whose most striking quality is not her capacity for evil but the depth of her emptiness, in an environment as hard and unyielding as the contours of her life."
