The CHS Opening Knights Present SEUSSICAL

Century High School's (CHS) award-winning Opening Knights Drama Club proudly announces their spring production of Seussical, to be performed on April 5, 6, 7, 13 & 14 at 7 pm and April 7 & 14 at 2 pm.

In this family friendly show, Tony winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty have lovingly brought to life all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie and a little boy with a big imagination - Jojo. The colorful characters will transport audience members from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos.

The Cat in the Hat tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many "thinks." Horton faces a double challenge: not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant.

Directors Lucas and Caitlyn Hewitt are very excited to bring Seussical to the stage at CHS to once again showcase the amazing and talented Opening Knights' Drama Club actors. Mr. Hewitt shared, "We love this show because of its message: treat each other equally, keep your promises, use your imagination, and stand up for what you believe."

Sophomore Andrew Fleming, who plays Horton says, "Playing an elephant is a new and fun experience, and I absolutely love interacting with the kids!" Seussical promises to be fun and bright with high energy and some much-requested dancing.

Evening performances will take place in the Century High School auditorium on April 5, 6, 7, 13 and 14 at 7 pm. Matinees will take place at 2 pm on April 7 and 14. A character Meet & Greet will be held at 1 pm before each matinee. For an extra charge, children will be able to have their photo taken with characters from the show, have their face painted, and engage with characters at coloring and activity stations. All who purchase a Meet & Greet ticket will be admitted early to the auditorium.

Ticket Information: Tickets are $12. Tickets may be purchased online at www.centurydrama.com or at A Likely Story Bookstore in Sykesville.
