Photo Flash: First Look at PASSPORT at Baltimore Playwrights Festival

By:

The Baltimore Playwrights Festival continues its Thirty-First Season with the August 9th opening of Passport, by Kevin Kostic, produced by Theatrical Mining Company (http://tmc.originalplays.com), at Load of Fun Studio, 120 W. North Avenue, Baltimore, MD, 21201. Directed by Barry Feinstein, Passport runs through August 26th, with performances Thursday-Saturday at 8:00 p.m., and Sundays at 2:00 p.m.  BroadwayWorld has a first look at the production photos below.

Tickets are $10.00 and can be purchased on-line and at the door. Thursday night performances are "Pay What You Can".

It’s December 27th, 2007 in Kisumu, Kenya. People have taken to the streets to protest the questionable results of the presidential election. Jeff, a humanitarian worker burnt-out from his job and estranged from his wife, finds himself trapped in his hotel room due to the riot occurring outside his window. Hearing screams, he pulls in two Kenyan women who will forever change his life.

Kevin Kostic’s plays and musicals have been performed in various theaters up & down the I-95 corridor. Past productions and readings include: The Scofield Coda: a musical (VA), The Coaching Session (NYC & MD), The Line in the Sand: Stories from the US/Mexico Border (national tour, co-author), One out of Five (MD), Cracking Columns: a musical (FL), CRABS! (DC) and Unraveled on the Gravel: a new musical (2011 BPF Production). Kevin is an active member of the Playwrights Group of Baltimore and lives in Baltimore City with his wife and two children.

The Baltimore Playwrights Festival has presented 273 scripts by 165 playwrights, produced by 25 different companies, over the past 30 years. Our mission is to provide an environment that nurtures the talents of Maryland and DC playwrights through public readings, discussions, critiques and workshopping of their new plays. Our summer season is devoted to the presentation of these newly developed works in cooperation with local area theaters and production companies.
