Obie Sims Brings Hollywood To The Strand

By:

"I am", a one man show written, produced, and starring Obie Sims is a snapshot into the lives of six men and their journey towards self discovery. With an energetic blend of spoken word, comedy, and drama, the show, an edgy expression of one's struggle to find purpose, is coming to The Strand Theatre for a limited 2-day engagement on Friday, August 6th and Saturday, August 7, 2010. The Strand Theatre is located at 1823 North Charles Street, Baltimore, MD, 21201. Doors open at 7:30pm with an 8:00pm show time.

After graduating from Boston University with a degree in finance, Obie Sims decided to leave the amazingly fun world of spreadsheets and number crunching to try his hand at something more stable - like becoming a movie star. With just enough belongings to fill his 1992 Isuzu Amigo, Obie, a Maryland native, headed west to pursue his dream of becoming a working actor. Despite many barriers and heartaches, he steadily pushed on.

Under the intense instruction of Robert Carnegie and Jeff Goldblum at Playhouse West Repertory Theatre, he went on to not only land national commercials for such companies as "Dodge", "Nokia", "AT&T", and "Applebees", he has also booked roles on such hit shows as "The Wire", "Law and Order: SVU", "Grey's Anatomy", "House M.D.", "Charmed", and "Medium". He plans on continuing to live and breathe his passion for the arts, which brings us to a one man show he created to uplift, motivate and inspire us to keep pushing on.
