Laurel Mill Playhouse, located at 508 Main Street in historic Laurel, MD., presents Company. Book by George Furth and music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Directed by Michael Hartsfield, musically directed by Phyllis Stanley, choreographed by Kristin Rigsby and produced by Maureen Rogers, this musical opens Friday, May 21.

Produced by special arrangement with MTI, performances run weekends through June 13 with Friday and Saturday evening performances at 8 p.m. and two Sunday matinees which will be held on June 6 and 13 at 2pm. Laurel Mill Playhouse announces auditions for Company which will take place on Thursday, March 11at 7:00pm and on Saturday March 13 at 10am. Eight women and six men are needed. Actors may audition bringing sheet music for the accompanist that will be provided. Sixteen bars of a ballad or up tempo song will be requested. Company will open on May 21 and run through Sunday, June 13. Performances will run on Friday and Saturday evenings with two selected Sunday matinees.
The clashing sounds and pulsing rhythms of New York City underscore this landmark "concept" show, considered by many to have inaugurated the modern era of musical theatre. "Company" follows our anti-hero bachelor Robert as he makes his way through a series of encounters with April (the stewardess), Kathy (the girl who's going to marry someone else), Marta (the "peculiar" one), as well as with his married friends.

On the night of his 35th birthday, confirmed bachelor Robert contemplates his unmarried state. In vignette after hilarious vignette, we are introduced to "those good and crazy people," his married friends, as Robert weighs the pros and cons of married life. In the end, he realizes being alone is "alone, not alive."
