Fells Point Corner Theater Presents The Sculptress July 8-31
Fells Point Corner Theatre and the Baltimore Playwrights Festival proudly present (playing from July 8 to July 31, 2011) The Sculptress by Marilyn Millstone
Directed by Juliana Avery
Marilyn Millstone's play The Sculptress centers around the year 1935 and the unlikely friendship between two brilliant female artists: Camille Claudel-once the protégée and mistress of Auguste Rodin, who was committed to an asylum when she was 48-and the fiery young Spanish painter Remedios Varo. Theirs is a story about the power of friendship, the fine line between eccentricity and madness, and the things that matter-no matter what.
Playwright, Marilyn Millstone is a first-time playwright. She is a veteran journalist, who writes for Baltimore-based "American Style Magazine."
The Sculptress is directed by Juliana Avery, who is a Washington, DC based playwright and director. Most recently, she directed A Thing for Redheads at the Capitol Fringe Festival. Featured in the accomplished cast are: Stefan Aleksander, Ilayda (Yagmar) Muftuoglu, Ellie Nicoll, Karin Rosnizeck and David Shoemaker.
Performances of The Sculptress are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 7 pm. There will be no show on 7/22 or 7/23.
