Maryland Public Television (MPT) and Chesapeake Shakespeare Company (CSC) are one of ten partnership organizations selected to participate in the SHAKESPEARE UNCOVERED National Community Outreach Initiative. This program partners public media stations with Shakespeare festivals and theatre companies across the country to raise awareness of the upcoming SHAKESPEARE UNCOVERED series, foster enthusiasm for Shakespeare's work at the local level, and engage and build new audiences for public media and the performing arts in creative and innovative ways.

Debuting in January, 2013, and continuing as a series of special presentations throughout the year, this televised series combines history, biography, iconic performances, new analysis, and the personal passions of its celebrated hosts - Ethan Hawke, Jeremy Irons, Derek Jacobi, Trevor Nunn, Joely Richardson, and David Tennant - to tell the "stories behind the stories" of some of Shakespeare's greatest plays. Shakespeare Uncovered initially airs on MPT every Friday at 9:00 pm, January 25 through February 8, 2013.

In conjunction with this partnership, MPT and CSC invite the public to a series of FREE SHAKESPEARE ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION EVENTS throughout the region. The discussions are led by Chesapeake Shakespeare Company artistic staff and will show excerpts of the upcoming PBS series while giving the public an opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions about some of Shakespeare's greatest works.
