Cast Announced for THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY at Red Branch Theatre Company

By: Aug. 10, 2017

Red Branch Theatre Company (RBTC) continues its 2017 season entitled Mad About You with The Bridges of Madison County, a musical adaptation of the best-selling novel by Robert James Waller. Casting has been completed and rehearsals are underway for the production that will run at Drama Learning Center, where Red Branch is the professional theatre in residence, from September 22 - October 14.

The Bridges of Madison County is a sweeping musical romance that embarks upon the journey of imagining what it would like if one's life took a different turn. Travel back in time and across the heartlands of the United States to an Iowa farm in 1965. Follow the story of four days in the life of Iowa housewife Francesca Johnson at the intersection where she meets ruggedly handsome National Geographic photographer Robert Kincaid. Add music and lyrics by TONY Award-winning composer Jason Robert Brown (The Last Five Years, Parade) and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Marsha Norman (The Secret Garden, The Color Purple) to complete this lush, immersive piece of musical theatre.

This production marks the first time that a regional theatre has produced The Bridges of Madison County. It enjoyed a brief run on Broadway in 2014 and a national tour in 2015 and 2016. Red Branch audiences previously enjoyed hearing songs from The Bridges of Madison County in March of 2014. Composer Jason Robert Brown performed a special concert to open the company's 2014 season and sang several songs from the new production alongside Red Branch performers. Special events in conjunction with the production are still being finalized. Tickets are currently on sale.

The Bridges of Madison County is presented with permission through special arrangement with Music Theatre International.
