Britt Shubow Stars in DE Thoroughly Modern Millie

Rehoboth Beach - Clear Space Productions is pleased to announce that their summer musical Thoroughly Modern Millie is ready to start rehearsals next week! 

Keeping with the Clear Space mission, director Ken Skrzesz has cast a mix of out-of-town and local talent.  Britt Shubow, who starred in over 1,500 performances of Broadway's Mamma Mia!, will perform the role of Millie Dillmount opposite local favorite David Button playing the role of Jimmy Smith. Mr. Button has recently been seen in three shows all written by Kander and Ebb – Chicago, Cabaret and And The World Goes Round.  Mrs. Meers, the villainous owner of the Priscilla Hotel, will be played by local professional actress Elaine Faye. Faye has performed in New York, Washington, D.C. and in national Broadway tours. Laura Weiss, a recent graduate of Catholic University, will join the cast as the innocent Miss Dorothy Brown. Charles Woods of Lewes has been selected to play Millie's handsome boss, Trevor Graydon.  Charles was seen in CSP's New Works Festival last November and on Broadway in the 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee .  Dulcena Kemmerlin of Milford will be raising the roof as the sophisticated jazz singer and nightclub owner Muzzy Van Hossmere.  

Schyler Conaway of Seaford and Michael Matthias of Georgetown are featured Mrs. Meers' henchmen.  Schyler has appeared in CSP's productions of Scrooge, the 2006 New Works Festival and Hello, Dolly!, as well as numerous productions with Possum Point Players.  This will be Schyler's last local show before he leaves for college at the Shenandoah Conservatory this fall.  Michael is currently studying acting at Catawba College, where he is vice president of The Blue Masque theatre group, and directed The Wiz at Possum Point.

The multi-talented ensemble features Erika Conaway, Sydney Dodd, Carly Economos, Dana Paragallo, Craig Porter, David Hebrank, Conor McGinnis and Cory Johnston. 

The musical is based on the 1967 film by Blake Edwards which starred Julie Andrews, Mary Tyler Moore, John Gavin, Carol Channing and Beatrice Lillie.  The stage adaptation opened on Broadway in 2002 and won six Tony Awards, including Best Musical.  

The musical  runs July 19th through July 22nd at the Little Theatre of Cape Henlopen High for five performances before moving to the Schwartz Center in Dover July 26th and 27th.  Tickets are $25 (general admission) $20 (seniors, 60+) and $15 (students) and may be purchased by calling the Clear Space box office at 302-644-3810.
