Adventure Theatre MTC (ATMTC) opens 2014 with Miss Nelson is Missing, its third production of its 62nd Professional Season. Based on one of the most memorable books its time by Harry Allard and JameS Marshall, Miss Nelson is Missing is written by nationally-renowned, local playwright, Joan Cushing, who is the most produced playwright in children's theatre according to TYA Today Magazine. This children's favorite directed byJennifer Nelson (2011's Mirandy and Brother Wind and former Producing Artistic Director of the African Continuum Theatre) and music directed by Helen Hayes Award Recipient and 8-time nominee, George Fulginiti-Shakar, will run January 17- March 9, 2014. Miss Nelson is Missing stars Helen Hayes Award Nominee Jessica Lauren Ball (Olney's Cinderella, Toby's Legally Blonde) as Miss Nelson, the well-natured and long-suffering teacher of the disobedient Room 207, who is suddenly replaced by the petrifying substitute, Miss Viola Swamp. Tickets are $19 each and can be purchased online at www.adventuretheatre-mtc.org or by calling 301.634.2270.

Miss Nelson is Missing continues Adventure Theatre MTC's partnership with the University of Maryland, showcasing their up-and-coming student designers. Previous partnerships with UMD included the ATMTC's 9-time Helen Hayes nominated A Year With Frog & Toad and last year's Outstanding Production- TYA nominated, A Little House Christmas.

Michael J. Bobbitt, Producing Artistic Director of Adventure Theatre MTC, says of the production, "Sometimes we all wish we had a Miss Viola Swamp to take over our lives and put things back in order. I can't wait to see what unique experience our own Miss Nelson (Jennifer Nelson) creates for our audiences with this talented cast and production team in partnership with the University of Maryland, who has always impressed us with their designs and creativity."

Miss Nelson is Missing is recommended for ages 5 and up. Tickets are $19 each with group and field trip rates available. Children under the age of 1 are free. The press performance will be Sunday, January 19th at 2pm. All performances will take place at Adventure Theatre MTC, 7300 MacArthur Blvd, Glen Echo, MD, 20812 in the historic Glen Echo Park.
