It occurred to me recently that when Gillian and I talk about 'The Residuals', we naturally focus on the aspects of the process that we're most excited about. This is, I'm sure, as it should be. But if you're working on something and you find yourself mired in a valley rather than a peak, I don't want you to feel discouraged. That kind of stuff happens to us aplenty. Here's a recent example.

In October, BroadwayWorld's webseries partner THE RESIDUALS completed a successful $20,000 KickStarter campaign to help fund their second season. Soon after, husband and wife co-creators Michael Paul Smith and Gillian Pensavalle began shooting Season Two; which will guest star SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE's Horatio Sanz and WICKED and SABRINA, THE TEENAGE WITCH's Jenna Leigh Green. Currently, Pensavalle, who serves as the series' editor, is neck deep in footage, but she took some time earlier this week to update the show's supporters:

After a successful KickStarter campaign, the hit web comedy THE RESIDUALS has wrapped on its second season, which will debut exclusively on BroadwayWorld early in 2015. The series, created by and starring husband and wife Michael Paul Smith and Gillian Pensavalle, focuses on the unusual world of auditioning for commercials. Season Two features all of the kooky characters from the first season, and will feature Broadway's Jenna Leigh Green (WICKED, TV's SABRINA, THE TEENAGE WITCH), SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE's Horatio Sanz, and commercial icon Michael Torpey.

With one fantastic season already on the interwebs, the show's husband and wife creators Michael Paul Smith and Gillian Pensavalle having been documenting their fundraising process throughout the last month here on BroadwayWorld. For their final blog installment, Mike is answering some questions that they have received through their KickStarter campaign. So, take it away MPS...

The hysterical webseries, THE RESIDUALS, which will debut it's second season exclusively here on BroadwayWorld in 2015, is currently in the final two days of their Season Two KickStarter campaign. One of their KickStarter rewards, allows the contributor to select any song for creators Michael Paul Smith and Gillian Pensavalle to sing in a 'Dareoke.' For this one, they are singning 'Jackson' by Johnny Cash and June Carter. Check out the videos below, and there's still time to get your own Dareoke in before Tuesday night at 11:59pm.

For one of their KickStarter rewards, creators Michael Paul Smith and Gillian Pensavalle are thanking their supporters in a pretty unusual way. They are making videos for KickStarter contributors that include classic jokes from a 70-year-old joke book edited by Eddie Cantor. Now where else are you going to get that kind of 'Thank You?' And let's be honest, Gillian's reactions are just as funny as the jokes themselves. Check out some of these videos below.

In Season One of THE RESIDUALS, BroadwayWorld's newest webseries partnership, casting director Mark Lyell (SUBMISSIONS ONLY's Mark Gessner) might have come off as a little abrassive, and perhaps bi-polar. However, as the gang preps for Season Two, he is out to prove that he does in fact have a heart, and some other vital organs as well.

Jenna Leigh Green has quite a history with witches. First she played the best friend of one on SABRINA, THE TEENAGE WITCH, then she played one's sister, before taking over as one, in WICKED. Now Green is set to guest star on Season 2 of THE RESIDUALS, BroadwayWorld's newest webseries collaboration. And while she won't be playing a witch, she will be playing a character who could be described by a word that rhymes with 'witch.'

THE RESIDUALS' KickStarter is currently 96% funded, but it's not there yet. So, check out their page and help push them over the top. Recently Gillian said, 'I feel like this is our George Bailey moment. Except that we won't be going to jail if we don't hit our goal. But the gratitude that George feels as his cousin is tallying up everyone's money is just about exactly how I feel.'

When I first sat down to write Season Two of 'The Residuals,' the first question I had for myself was about the 'big picture.' Do we make this season about a big overall storyline, or do we abide by Larry David's 'Seinfeld' rule of, 'No hugging, no learning'?

I didn't get into this business to be the first actor, or the only actor. I'm pretty sure some Greek person locked that up a few thousand years ago. So why, after not a whole helluva lot of years out of college, did I greet news of my friends' and acquaintances' successes with little more than fear and self-consciousness? Furthermore: why did I even greet news of their failures and setbacks (real talk, now) with some sub-level of relief? Why don't we like each other's work more often? Why is it easier to watch a stranger's work than someone we know? Why; for that matter, do some of the greatest actors this world has to offer get crapped on via the anonymous internet every day? BWW---I submit to you now---that the response to those questions, and to your impulses to do the same, is that it shouldn't be that way, and it doesn't have to be.
