Steppenwolf Theatre Company continues its 2008-2009 season, an exploration of the imagination, with The Seafarer by Conor McPherson, directed by ensemble member Randall Arney. The production, featuring ensemble members Francis Guinan, Tom Irwin, John Mahoney and Alan Wilder with Randall Newsome, runs December 4, 2008 - February 8, 2009 in Steppenwolf's Downstairs Theatre, 1650 N. Profiles Theatre continues its 20th Anniversary Season with the OBIE Award-winning dark comedy The Thugs by Adam Bock, directed by Profiles Artistic Director Joe Jahraus. In an effort to help children in the area most devastated by the recent flooding, Munster's Theatre at the Center, 1040 Ridge Road, will host a special free performance of their current Theatre for Young Audiences production, Max & Ruby. The benefit performance for these children from surrounding schools, as identified by Munster Town Manager Tom DiGiulio, will take place on October 16 at 11:15 a.m. Max & Ruby is a new musical based on the series of books by Rosemary Wells and the popular television program on Nick Jr. and Noggin. Theatre at the Center's Theatre for Young Audiences is recognized for bringing exciting, fun and educational productions to the stage. The energetic and hilarious production of Max & Ruby will run October 16 through October 18.

As BoHo enters their fifth season, the essence of playwright Federico Garcia Lorca is explored once again. The BoHo production of Yerma received critical acclaim for its adaptation which captured the heart and spirit of the main character. The same is true for the BoHo production of LaChiusa's Bernarda Alba - a musical. The drama of Lorca's original play (The House of Bernarda Alba) and the hauntingly beautiful score by Michael John LaChiusa combine to bring the story and characters to life in BoHo's wonderfully intimate space.
