On September 16th, 2016 Masterworks Broadway released the World Premiere Recording of the award winning new hit Polkadots: The Cool Kids Musical. Written by Douglas Lyons, Melvin Tunstall, III and Greg Borowsky, Polkadots is a new musical inspired by the true events of the Civil Rights pioneers Ruby Bridges and The Little Rock Nine. The album's release will be celebrated in a concert presentation on Monday October 24th at The Cutting Room, and BroadwayWorld has a look behind the scenes with the cast in the studio!

Signature Theatre presents the world premiere production of Disney's Freaky Friday. Developed by Disney Theatrical Productions expressly for licensing to theatres, Freaky Friday features a book by Bridget Carpenter, music by Tom Kitt and lyrics by Brian Yorkey. This premiere production will be directed by Christopher Ashley with choreography by Sergio Trujillo. Freaky Friday runs now through November 20 in Signature Theatre's MAX Theatre. More than 200 people turned out on Friday as the nationwide Rock Against the TPP tour protesting the unpopular Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal came to the Boston area. The concert, which featured well known acts including Mirah and Debo Band, was followed by a training session where participants planned future actions to pressure undecided local lawmakers Rep Seth Moulton and Joe Kennedy, to vocally oppose the TPP. Broadway Method Academy, a musical theater program that recently opened a new studio in downtown Fairfield, presented the classic American musical, The Music Man. The non-profit organization's mission is connecting the stars of today with the stars of tomorrow, and this production welcomed to the company Broadway actors Grady Long (The Audience, starring Helen Mirren) and Stephanie Jae Park (The King and I, Cinderella, War Paint). The Music Man played Fairfield University's Quick Center for the Arts October 8-9. Synetic Theater invites you to the 10th annual Vampire's Ball on Friday, October 28. This year, the Vampire's Ball will follow Synetic's hellish adaptation of Dante's Inferno. After traveling the nine circles of hell with Dante, guests will dance the night away with music courtesy of Resident Composer and Halloween DJ, Konstantine Lortkipanidze. The Curran today released a music video of the song 'Ring of Keys,' from the Tony Award-winning musical Fun Home, which will re-open the Curran this January after an extensive renovation that is currently underway (and pictured in scenes from the video). The song, written by Tony Award-winners Lisa Kron and Jeanine Tesori, and performed by students from Oakland School for the Arts (OSA), is in celebration and support of GLAAD and 'Spirit Day' on October 20, 2016, a day that encourages all to take a stand against bullying of LGBTQ youth and wear purple. His new friends - three hilarious spiders named Edgar, Allan and Poe - try to convince Spookley that square or not, he has a right to be the Pick of the Patch on Halloween. Spookley isn't sure he has what it takes until a mighty storm threatens to destroy the entire patch, sending the round pumpkins rolling towards the raging river. The new musical Come From Away will begin performances on Broadway on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre (236 West 45th Street) and officially open Sunday, March 12, 2017, following productions at Washington DC's Ford's Theatre (Friday, September 2 - Sunday, October 16, 2016) and Toronto's Royal Alexandra Theatre (Tuesday, November 15, 2016 - Sunday, January 8, 2017), and two special benefit concert performances in Gander, Newfoundland (Saturday, October 29, 2016). The 60s sci-fi immersive musical comedy Wild Women of Planet Wongo, a wacky B-movie inspired sci-fi comedy about two astronauts that land on a planet of beautiful warrior women who have never seen men, is returning to New York after its successful Brooklyn run last year. Presented by Not Too Fancy Productions, LLC, Performances will begin at Parkside Lounge (317 East Houston) on Wednesday, September 28 at 8pm and run each Wednesday through November 16, 2016.
