Lincoln Center's free concert series The History of the World in 100 Performances with Adam Gopnik kicked off on February 17 with Leonard Bernstein's 1943 takeover of the New York Philharmonic.

Stage and screen actor Jake Gyllenhaal, Lenny's daughter Jamie Bernstein, New Yorker staff writer and film critic David Denby, conductor John Mauceri, and Tony-winning composer Jeanine Tesori joined to tell the story.
