Submissions For Eyes On L.A.: Hat Stories Contest Due 8/14August 12, 2009Cell Short Takes is sponsoring the Eyes on L.A.: Hat Stories Contest, which ties in with the current run of Regina Taylor?s award-winning production of Crowns at Pasadena Playhouse.
Cell Short Takes is looking for favorite hat stories from Los Angeles County residents over the age of 18, who are legal residents of the United States or D.C. Contestants are to submit their Eyes on L.A.: Hat Stories in cell short takes format by mail, postmarked for receipt by Friday, August 14, 2009. Cell phone short takes are films shot entirely on cell phones lasting between 5 and 10 minutes in length. Short takes will be viewed and voted on by your peers and the Cell Short Takes online community.

Starlight Theatre's Production Of ANNIE Stars Orphaned Dogs; Performances Run From 8/13-30August 10, 2009Starlight Theatre and the Helen Woodward Animal Center have partnered together to train an
'orphaned' dog to star in Annie for their summer season. The adorable one-year old Barney, a
terrier and golden retriever mix, is currently waiting at the Helen Woodward for his debut on
opening night. Together, with owner/operator Rob Kuty of San Diego Pet Training, Barney has
trained over the past few months to perform his first and last stage role as Sandy in the family
musical classic Annie.

THE TREASURE OF SIERRA'S PADRE And LOS CANGREJOS THE CRABS THAT PLAYED WITH THE SEA On 8/21August 10, 2009Partially funded by the Hillsboro Arts and Culture Council, L.E.S.T.A. - Learn English/Spanish Through the Arts, will present two free bilingual musical plays by and for kids at the Hart Theatre. As the culmination of Camp 1, on Friday, AUG. 14, students will present 'El Tesoro ... the Treasure of Sierra's Padre'. And from Camp 2, on Friday August 21, students will present 'Los Cangrejos ... the Crabs That Played With the Seas'. Both shows are at 3:00 p.m. at the Hart Theatre, 185 NE Washington, corner of 2nd street, Hillsboro.
Contuit Center For The Arts Set To Hold Art Week 8/24-28August 9, 2009Cotuit Center for the Arts offers Art Week from August 24-28. The art camp meets daily from 10am-3pm and includes entertainment during the lunch hour. Students may register for the full week or have the option to attend half days; mornings from 10am-noon or afternoons from 1pm-3pm. CCftA instructor Michelle Law and friends lead students ages 7-10 through a week of workshops designed to encourage artistic expression and raise awareness of the many branches of art. Students are invited to explore the worlds of Fine Art, Music, and Theater as they create under the instruction of exceptional area artists and performers. Projects and themes vary by session.

The performance is at 12 p.m. Sunday, August 16.
