Kirkland Arts Center is set to present its 2009 Members' Exhibit. Featuring painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture, and photography, the Members' Exhibit demonstrates a diverse selection from some of our most talented members. The exhibit which is juried by Stefano Catalani and is curated by Bellevue Arts Museum is set to run from August 14 - September 5. An opening night reception will be held on August 13 from 6:00-8:30pm.

Opening night for The Golden Gays is set for September 10th 2009 at the Cavern Club Theatre in Silver Lake. Produced by Los Angeles based writer John Trapper, this new work explores the world of four older gay men who are unhealthily obsessed with the famous foursome. Thanks to their equally dysfunctional therapist, they are able to explore their obsession through a novel new therapy. Through the process, they are also able to search their shallow souls for answers to other questions facing older gay men, the answers often coming in the form of a show tune from the decades familiar to thirty-somethings and above.

Following the great success of her spring engagement, dynamic singer Cindy Marchionda returns by very popular demand to The Laurie Beechman Theater for a four month series of Saturdays beginning August 15 and running also on September 5th, October 17th and November 21st with her sensational show, _'live at the beechman!'_ All shows are at 8:00. The Laurie Beechman Theater is located inside The West Bank Cafe at 407 West 42nd Street (between 9th & 10th Avenues). A convenient parking lot is located on the block. Great Evenings in the Great Hall, The Cooper Union?s dynamic performance series celebrating the college?s 150th anniversary, continues this fall with appearances by Salman Rushdie, Tony Kushner, Adam Gopnik, Olympia Dukakis, Amy Goodman, Siri Hustvedt, Isaiah Sheffer, Maria Tucci, and Karen Finley. From September through January 2010, in six provocative and entertaining presentations, The Cooper Union will showcase the stirring words of the radicals and reformers who spurred change and propelled advancements in civil rights, the labor movement, education and the arts for the past century-and-a-half. Period music and historic artifacts will complement the fiery oratory and inspiring dialogue that have filled The Great Hall since 1859.

Auditions are August 8-9, at their new location at Charles Page High School Performing Arts Auditorium - Park and Adams Road (turn North at Adams Road exit). Although the website says they will cast 7 women, they will probably cast more than that. The script is not set in stone for 7, so roll on out and come audition with them! This first show, as always, will be our fundraiser show, so it should be a lot of fun and a real crowd pleaser.

Clark Youth Theatre holds auditions for ?As You Like It? by William Shakespeare. Auditions are Saturday, August 8th at 3 pm. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script and improvisation of scenes. All students 18 and younger are eligible to audition.
