What a whirlwind Liza has been on this season! And unfortunately for her, it doesn't get ease up in the final installment - if anything, it's even more crazy!! As she tries to patch things up with Josh (remember, she came clean with him at the end of last week's episode), she's hit with another huge roadblock at work, which puts her in another awkward position which may not only lead to legal trouble, but commands her to face compromising her moral values. Though there are no literal fireworks present, it wouldn't be inaccurate to say this episode's an explosive finale, capping off a season of blunders and hijinks as only the YOUNGER writers can create.
Hey, YOUNGER buffs! Welcome to the second-to-last recap of the season!! And this week's pretty huge. The subject of the episode is — undoubtedly — honesty. In a minor subplot, Kelsey deals with the aftermath of her rendezvous with Bjonberg, and contemplates letting Thad in on what's been happening; while Liza's ruse comes to a head in her professional and personal life. Like, in a big way. And I mean big. Like game-changing big. All right — enough teasing. Intrigued? Why then, read on….
We open with Maggie, Josh and Liza clearing the apartment of the girls' mattress — there was a case of bedbugs in the building, and though it wasn't directly in their apartment, Maggie and Liza are clearing out just to be safe. While Maggie hightails it to her cousin's, Liza's — you guessed it — temporary living with Josh. Cue the foreplay and sexual innuendo… and there sure is a lot of it.
So, here we are. After nine months and 23 episodes, we've arrived at the MODERN FAMILY season finale. And the Dunphy-Delgado-Tucker-Pritchetts are going out with a bang, capping two season-long story arcs — the first, of course, being Alex's send-off to college, which we/she has been preparing for all season; and the second being the long-awaited climax of the Andy/Haley relationship (and climax it does!!). Of course, just because they have to — I mean, come on, it's MODERN FAMILY! — the episode's peppered with a variety of subplots, showcasing the rest of the clan at their very best. Wanna see what I mean? Just read on. :-)
Hey, all you YOUNGER fans! Excited for this week's recap? Ready to see what kind of trouble Liza gets herself into this week? With a return to 40-year-old life for her both physically and mentally, she's headed for a doozie! (Okay, I know I've said that before, but considering she's a woman who, week after week, continues to masquerade as someone 14 years her junior, would you really expect anything less than that?!) Onto our weekly rehash:
Ever the student, Alex plans to ditch Senior Ditch Day in favor of catching up on work at the library. However, desperate to break her out of her mold, Phil, Luke and Haley “kidnap” her and plan to drive to California Adventure. En route to the park, they pass a demolished movie theatre, which Phil reveals to be the movie theatre he helped renovate as a construction worker(!), before he got into real estate.
All the Empirical office romances are getting a bit more complicated this week! Liza's romantic plot line (read: Josh) is once again pretty much sidelined for the episode in favor of focusing more on the work scene, wherein Liza juggles administrative duties, being a supportive gal pal to Bjonberg-adulteress Kelsey, babysitting Charles' kids (yeah, we'll get to that one) and, of course, maintaining her guise, which, as she bemoans to Maggie in one scene (who's also pretty much sidelined for the episode), is getting harder by the minute.
Greetings, MODFAM fanatics! Eager to read a recap of what our favorite multi-generational, multi-cultural, completely dysfunctional clan has been up to this week? Look no further!! Here we go.....
Hola los fanáticos de YOUNGER. ¡Feliz Cinco de Mayo! While you're presumably celebrating Mexican independence munching on loads of Tostitos and guac, let me regale you with the details of what happened to our favorite Broadway hoodwinker this week.
Good evening/morning/insert-other-time-of-day-when-you're-reading-this, MODFAM fans! Hope you've had a good week, and are ready to dive in to another exciting episode. Here's the rundown on what happened this week:
Another week, another YOUNGER recap. Let's see what ridiculous hijinks Liza gets roped into this week: After a brilliant CrossFit cold open, we cut to the Empirical offices, where Diana and the team are preparing for a book launch party for famed author Annabelle Bancroft (Broadway's Jane Krakowski, Tony-winner for 2003's NINE revival).
Hey, y'all! Welcome back! Spring has officially sprung, and we're in the home stretch! The final batch of episodes will hopefully tie up all the season-long storylines we've come to enjoy throughout the months (Goodbye Alex; Hello Andy!). To start us off, this week's episode found Jay and Cam pairing together for a bowling tournament, Gloria and Mitch kicking up their heels for a night on the town, and Phil and Claire enduring the return of neighbors Ronnie and Amber (guest stars Steve Zahn and Andrea Anders). Here's a full run-down of what specifically went on this week:
While last week was dude-crazy what with the sex-capades of Josh and Liza and the developing romance between Kelsey and Bjonberg, this week, the boys were benched, and focus is shifted to the women. Specifically, the two with whom Liza has the closest relationships: bosom buddy Maggie, who she's known for years, and new gal-pal Kelsey, whose blossoming friendship is just as meaningful, though they've only known each other a few weeks. Here's what goes down:
Second chances were the crux of this week's episode, which focused less on Liza trying to hide her 40-year-old life, and more on her letting go of her inhibitions and embracing her younger persona (and the consequences that occurred when doing that).
When we open, Liza receives a text from Josh. She texts back “OKAY,” but deletes it before sending, continually rethinking and shortening her response to fit her 26-year-old persona. Really awesome, clever, and subtle way to show her continual struggle to adjust to the young adult world. Though, she's clearly progressing and gaining confidence in her new “age” — with a smirky smile, she knows immediately “OKAY” will not fly and “K” with an emoticon is totally the way to go.
So, guys. The dog ate my recap and I— nope. Just kidding. April Fool's. (Sorry… I had to do that, and that was the only thing I could think of!) Here's what went down with our favorite TV family this week:
It's episode 2 -- the second of the Series Premiere double header -- and now, the series is starting to take shape! Of course, Liza's still struggling, but progressing in de-aging herself and keeping up with all the slang — you can really see how hard she's trying!! In fact, when we open up, she's looking at an intricately designed web chart — trying to keep up with all the fake details of her guised life — and has a friend deleting her current Facebook page.
Hey, all you Broadway buffs! Guess what, guess what, guess what?! Two-time Tony winner Sutton Foster (ANYTHING GOES, THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE, SHREK, LITTLE WOMEN, DROWSY CHAPERONE, etc.), most recently seen on television in ABC Family's BUNHEADS, is back on the small screen!
Hey, all you MODFAM fans, and welcome back!! Hope you enjoyed your short hiatus, and that you're all ready to dive into the next batch of new episodes!!
So, as you probably already know, MODFAM covered a whole lotta ground this week, making progress in terms of plot and character, fleshing out this family we've come to know and love over the past six years. Here's what went down: Cam & Mitch's storyline follows the two of them attempting to alter Lily's choice of song for the upcoming talent show; as they explain in their confessional, they don't want her performing 'cause she's tone-deaf and can't sing. First off, glad to see Cam back at the piano! (These are the countries... these are the countries :p). Nice bit of continuity there. It's soon revealed that the whole scheme is not so much about Cam saving Lily from embarrassment as it is about him saving himself from embarrassment from his rival, Andrew.
