Performance Network Theatre announces its production of the musical, 'Little Shop of Horrors' with book and lyrics by Howard Ashman and music by Alan Menken. 'Little Shop of Horrors' will begin April 1st and run through May 9th, 2010. This zany comedy stars Broadway veteran Naz Edwards ('Souvenir'), Jason Richards ('The Fantasticks'), Aaron Moore ('The Fantasticks'), BJ Love ('Christmas Carol'd') and Courtney Myers. It is directed by Performance Network Executive Director, Carla Milarch ('The Fantasticks,' 'The Baker's Wife'), with musical direction by R. MacKenzie Lewis.

Libby Appel, the Oregon Shakespeare Festival's Artistic Director Emerita, will receive the Stephen and Christine Schwarzman Legacy Award for Excellence in Theater as part of the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival.

On Monday, March 29, singer/vocal coach/dancer/model/internet sensation Miranda Sings brought her dazzling act to the Broadway at Birdland stage once again. Armed with special guests Ann Hampton Callaway, John Tartaglia, Sam Tsui, Jarrod Spector and Domenic Nolfi, the show was packed with beautiful singing, performance critiques, the reading of hate mail, and love gone astray. Ms. Sings will be making a return to Birdland on Sunday, April 25 at 6pm.

The final program of this season's Very Young People's Concerts, geared to children ages 3 to 6, will take place Sunday, May 9, 2010, at 12:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., and Monday, May 10, at 10:30 a.m. at Merkin Concert Hall, 129 West 67th Street. This concert will explore 'forte and piano,' featuring the 'Summer' concerto from Vivaldi's The Four Seasons as part of the season's theme, 'Vivaldi and Friends.' Associate Principal Violist Rebecca Young is the host; Dorian Rence, also a violist with the Philharmonic, is the writer and narrator of stories about Philippe the Penguin, a character created for the series; and Marion Schoevaert is the illustrator.

On Wednesday, March 31, 2010, Brooklyn Recreation's Afterschool Program and the World Cares Center come together to bring you the Iron Skillet Cook Off Jr., a culinary competition in which members of New York's Bravest will team up with Parks' Afterschool participants to test their skills in the kitchen. The event will take place at new York City College of Technology from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

SAGE has announced that it will present the legend himself, Stephen Sondheim, with their first ever 'Lifetime Achievement in Theatre' Award during a pre-show cocktail reception at Brasserie Cognac Restaurant at 6 pm, followed by an 8 pm performance of Sondheim on Sondheim at Studio 54.

Due to popular demand, the Attic Theatre's production of Side By Side By Sondheim has been extended to May 2nd. The production was originally set to close April 18th.

On April 19th, Ilene Graff will be performing her show, First You Dream, at New York City's Birdland Jazz Club.

Barbra Streisand, the legendary actress, singer, and director, will appear at this year's BookExpo America (BEA) at the Opening Night Keynote Reception on Tuesday, May 25th. She will be interviewed before thousands of booksellers and book industry professionals about My Passion for Design, to be published by Viking on November 16, 2010. It will be Ms. Streisand's first appearance on behalf of the book.

Tony Award winner Faith Prince will be recording a live CD during her stint at Palm Beach's Royal Room at the Colony Hotel from April 13-16. This will be the performer's fifth engagement at the Royal Room.

Trinity Repertory Company has announced that Liza Minnelli will receive the 2010 Pell Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Arts at the 14th Annual Pell Awards gala on June 19, 2010. The other honorees include George Wein (Outstanding Leadership in the Arts) and Umberto 'Bert' Crenca (2010 Rhode Island Pell Award For Excellence in the Arts).

Something Positive Dance Company has announced that its first benefit, Cocktails & Conversation, with internationally renowned actor and activist Danny Glover and legendary recording artist and music producer David Rudder, will take place on Monday, April 19th, 2010 at 7:00PM.

This is made entirely clear in The Cripple of Inishmaan, Martin McDonagh's darkly comic and touching work about a physically challenged young man's dreams of becoming a Hollywood star. The spritely production currently being mounted by the Irish Players of Rochester, a subset of Rochester Community Players, gives its audience just the right balance of sentimentality and harsh absurdity. Under Jean Gordon Ryon's direction, McDonagh's comical drama about the nature of lies, gossip, and identity makes for a night of quality entertainment.
