Lantern Theater Company will open its 2012/13 season with a pair of plays by David Ives: The Liar, an adaptation of the French comedy classic by Pierre Corneille, and a limited return engagement of New Jerusalem, The Interrogation of Baruch de Spinoza at Talmud Torah Congregation: Amsterdam, July 27, 1656, which last fall played to sold out houses and was extended twice to meet demand, quickly becoming the best-selling production in the Lantern's history.

Steppenwolf for Young Adults' 2012/13 season kicks off with The Book Thief, based on the novel by Markus Zusak, adapted by Heidi Stillman and directed by Hallie Gordon in Steppenwolf's Upstairs Theatre (1650 N Halsted St). Presented as part of the citywide Now Is The Time initiative, and in partnership with Chicago Public Library's One Book, One Chicago program, The Book Thief features ensemble member Francis Guinan with Patrick Andrews, Amy J. Carle, Rob Fagin, Rae Gray, Dennis William Grimes, Nikki Klix, Ian Knox, Anthony-Jon LeSage, Clancy McCartney, Andy Monson, Mark Ulrich and Nicole Wiesner. The Book Thief runs October 16 - November 9, 2012 in Steppenwolf's Upstairs Theatre (1650 N Halsted St); the press performance is on October 21 at 3pm. Matinees Tuesday through Friday are reserved for school groups only, with Saturday and Sunday performances available to the public. Single tickets and tickets for school groups are currently on sale.

Broadway In Chicago has announced Starvox Entertainment and Potted Productions' hit off-Broadway show, Potted Potter: The Unauthorized Harry Experience - A Parody by Dan and Jeff, will play Chicago at the Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place (175 East Chestnut) beginning Nov. 13, 2012.

By any definition, Ann Arbor resident, author, theatre professional, teacher, lecturer, mother and wife, Jacqui Robbins is a veritable renaissance woman, and this summer has been no exception. A founding board member of Ann Arbor's Penny Seats theatre group, Robbins just directed her third production with the troupe - the musical 'She Loves Me' - which opened to capacity crowds at the West Park Band Shell this past weekend. Robbins also has two successful children's books in print 'The New Girl...and Me' and 'Two of a Kind," and she has just had a poem published in the compilation 'Dare to Dream...Change the World."

For the first time in Melbourne, fortyfivedownstairs and New Zealand's national M?ori theatre company Taki Rua partner to present the Australian premiere of Michael James Manaia by John Broughton - described as 'a poignant story about a New Zealand man who returns from the Vietnam War struggling with his culture and history.'

Root rocker and author Steve Earle will read from his new novel I'll Never Get Out of This World Alive at Prairie Lights on Tuesday, August 7 at 4pm, with a book signing and Q&A following. The reading is free and open to the public. An accomplished musician, Steve Earle will also perform at The Englert Theatre later that evening.

On August 19th at 7pm, BroadwayUnderstudies.com has invited some of Broadway's most talented understudies to the stage of the Laurie Beechman Theatre to share their rare talent-the ability to perform at a second's notice. They'll be thrown into the fire in 'Half Hour: A Last Minute Concert,' a show where even they don't know what they'll be singing before they step up to the microphone. The audience will get to vote on what song each performer will sing.

This summer, Center for Puppetry Arts presents a very special production for Atlanta's younger audience members and their parents. Five timeless tales of fun and friendship hit the stage in a fresh and invigorating new format specifically developed to engage and educate children ages two through six. This 'Theater for the Very Young' production takes audiences on a playful carnival ride with a bandwagon of animal friends that will have little ones bouncing, clapping, and singing along. The show features some of Aesop's most famous fables including the Lion and the Mouse, the Country Mouse and City Mouse, the Fox and the Crane, the Ant and the Grasshopper, and the Tortoise and the Hare.

Twin Cities favorites Nathan Keepers (Estragon) and Jim Lichtscheidl (Vladimir) take on the leading roles in The Jungle Theater's WAITING FOR GODOT, Samuel Beckett's "tragicomedy in two acts," widely considered one of the most significant plays of the 20th century. Artistic Director Bain Boehlke directs the duo who play two old friends debating the meaning of life and the absurdities of human behavior in this funny, captivating and illuminating production.
