Erik Jensen will join the cast of the LCT3 production of Disgraced, a new play by Ayad Akhtar, directed by Kimberly Senior, beginning tonight, Wednesday, October 10. Mr. Jensen will assume the role of Isaac from Adam Dannheisser, who is recovering from an illness which forced him to withdraw from the production. Disgraced began previews Sunday, October 7 and will open on Monday, October 22 for a limited engagement at the Claire Tow Theater, 150 West 65 Street.

The Flea Theater welcomes Tony Award winner Karen Ziemba (Contact, Curtains, Steel Pier) to the cast of the limited Off-Broadway engagement of HERESY by A.R. Gurney, directed by Jim Simpson. Beginning October 19th, Ziemba replaces Kathy Najimy, who leaves to begin filming a TV project. Since 1992, under the rubric of its Undesirable Elements series, the beloved Ping Chong + Company has created nearly 50 deeply moving theater productions that give voice to specific communities. In the creation of each piece, local participants testify to their real lives and experiences, often for the first time. Scripts are based on interviews with these participants, who then tell their stories in the final production. Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the initiative, the company will offer a festival of these works-including Cry for Peace: Voices from the Congo; Secret Survivors, featuring adult survivors of child sexual abuse; and Inside/Out…voices from the disability community-October 18 through November 4 at La MaMa E.T.C. The programming will also include panel discussions, live streams of performances, and the screening of a new documentary entitled Secret Survivors: Using Theater to Break the Silence.

The poetry of William Shakespeare's timeless A Midsummer Night's Dream is swinging to a new beat with newly composed tunes, classic jazz standards and choreographed dance numbers in A Jazz Dream, The Musical, adapted by New York guest director Maggie L. Harrer and produced by the University of North Texas Department of Dance and Theatre. UNT's College of Music is providing creative musical input, and UNT's Department of English is offering dramaturgical assistance.
Tokyo Symphony Orchestra Chairman Hideo Sawada and Managing Director and Executive Director Junji Ohno announced today that conductor Jonathan Nott will become the Orchestra's next Music Director, beginning in 2014-15 season. The initial agreement is for three years.
