The Albuquerque Theatre Guild and the American Theatre Archive Project present a one-day, interactive symposium on Saturday, October 27, 2012 in the Salon Ortega at the National Hispanic Cultural Center. Titled Recognizing New Mexico's Theatrical Past, Present and Future: An Interactive Symposium, the free event will take attendees on a tour of how theatrical performances have been a part of the lives of New Mexicans for over 400 years. It explores the role of New Mexicans in creating and preserving that history for future generations.

The 2:30 matinee performance of LUZ -- Catherine Filloux's new play about gender-based violence and human rights violations in different parts of the world -- will be followed by a discussion with members of the human rights community, including Kate Doyle of The National Security Archive and winner of the ALBA/Puffin Award for Human Rights Activism, along with Dr. Marcia Esparza, who has conducted research in areas including state violence, genocide and memory-silence in the aftermath of mass killings.

This concert will feature musical theatre writers- who are ages 19 to 90, who were born everywhere from Kansas City to San Francisco to Montreal, who are established and who are emerging- each writing a song about someone who has changed their idea of New York City.

George Street Playhouse Artistic Director David Saint announced today that the theatre has postponed their scheduled production of Clever Little Lies, penned by Tony Award-winning playwright Joe DiPietro, which was to star award-winning actress Marlo Thomas. Mark St. Germain's critically-acclaimed play The Best of Enemies, originally produced by Barrington Stage Company, will take its place in the New Brunswick theatre's season, running November 29 - December 23.

Fengar Gael's The Island of No Tomorrows, an erotic, quixotic musical fantasy directed by Lorca Peress runs at Interart Theatre from November 2nd through 18th. The play, a co-production between Interart Theatre Development Series and MultiStages New Works Contests, is part of the League of Professional Theatre Women's "30 Plays Celebrate 30 Years Series". Theatre Communications Group (TCG) has announced the publication of Ping Chong's Undesirable Elements: Real People, Real Lives, Real Theater. The volume includes four pieces of the Undesirable Elements series, as well as a section on methodology, interviews with collaborators, a complete production history and an introduction by Alisa Solomon. The publication is released in conjunction with the 20th Anniversary of the Undesirable Elements series, and Ping Chong & Company is celebrating in NYC with a festival at La MaMa October 18 - November 4.

Avgust Amonov will make his Met debut in the title role of tomorrow evening's performance of Verdi's Otello, replacing Johan Botha, who is ill.

The Concrete Jungle, an original work from American composer Bobby Cronin opened at the Studio Theatre of London's Arts Educational School on 8th June, 2012, and runs until the 16th June, 2012. The show follows the lives and loves of a group of young singletons who have just moved to New York City as they share stories in their local bar, 'The Concrete Jungle'.
