New Jersey Theatre Alliance, the service organization for the state's professional theatres, will celebrate with their member theatres, friends and supporters at Curtain Call on October 22nd. The event (formerly known as the Applause Awards), will be held at Ursino, the elegant new farm-to-table restaurant on the campus of Kean University in Union, which is also home to Premiere Stages, one of NJTA's 32 professional theatre members.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company has announced the line-up for Next Up 2013, the third annual collaboration with Northwestern University's MFA programs in Direction and Design featuring the work of graduates of those programs with casts of professional Chicago actors. Next Up continues Steppenwolf's commitment to Chicago's next generation of theater artists and includes three productions presented in rotating repertory, May 28 - June 16, 2013 in The Steppenwolf Garage (1624 N Halsted St). The directors and designers make their Steppenwolf debut under the mentorship of Steppenwolf staff and artists, including ensemble member Anna D. Shapiro, associate artist Jessica Thebus and scenic designer Todd Rosenthal-all members of the Northwestern faculty-as well as Steppenwolf Associate Artistic Director Erica Daniels. Tickets to Next Up go on sale March 29, 2013.

During November and December the Brooklyn Museum will present an array of public programs for adults, teens, and kids, including the Sixth Annual Children's Book Fair; performances by award-winning trumpeter Christian Scott, bassist-composer Linda Oh, and the Brooklyn Conservatory Community Orchestra; conversations with artists Mickalene Thomas, Carrie Mae Weems, and Harmony Hammond; a reading from the memoir Conversations with Stalin by author Eleanor Antin; a screening of Mickalene Thomas's film Happy Birthday to a Beautiful Woman; a tour of the exhibition Aesthetic Ambitions: Edward Lycett and Brooklyn's Faience Manufacturing Company with curator Barbara Veith; and a variety of art-making classes and workshops.

From "Stand By Your Man" to Aretha's "R.E.S.P.E.C.T," the international hit musical Respect: A Musical Journey of Women returns to Phoenix for a limited three-week engagement to celebrate the exciting story of women in the 20th century through more than 60 Top 40 songs. The show will run at Herberger Theater Center, 222 E. Monroe, from Feb. 13 through March 3.

The only official chartered USO show troupe, the USO Liberty Bells travel throughout the world performing for service men and women, their families, veterans and audiences that actively support the troops here and abroad. The USO Liberty Bells are part of this American tradition that began with the muddy camp shows of the South Pacific 71 years ago. The troupe is comprised of Broadway and off-Broadway professionals.

Lehmann Maupin Gallery will present Mickalene Thomas: How to Organize a Room Around A Striking Piece of Art, a two-gallery exhibition on view from 1 November 2012 - 5 January 2013 at 540 West 26th Street and 201 Chrystie Street. The artist's third solo exhibition at Lehmann Maupin will be presented in two parts: the Lower East Side gallery will comprise new large-scale paintings depicting landscapes and interior scenes as well as a series of short films created during her recent travels in Europe. In Chelsea, Thomas's first documentary film "HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN" will be shown alongside paintings, photographs, and photomontages of her mother and long-time muse, Sandra Bush. Thomas will also re-create one of her tableau environments in the gallery, allowing viewers to fully immerse themselves in her world while watching the film.

Unbound Productions Co-Artistic Directors Jonathan Josephson, Paul Millet, and Jeff G. Rack have announced that the 2012 incarnation of the popular horror story adaptation series WICKED LIT will extend its previously announced run at Mountain View Mausoleum and Cemetery in Altadena, California. The production will now run from October 12 to November 10, 2012 - an addition of 7 performances for audiences to attend.

Disney Theatrical Productions and the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center announced today that tickets for the long-awaited return engagement of Disney's The Lion King will go on sale to the public on Friday, November 30 at 7:00 a.m. The Fox Cities' most eagerly awaited return will once again leap onto the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center's stage on Tuesday, April 9 for a limited engagement of four weeks through Sunday, May 5. The opening night is Thursday, April 11 at 7:30 p.m. The show's six-week premiere engagement in 2007 played a sold-out run at the Fox Cities P.A.C.

Firehouse Theatre Project continues its Stories from the American Inferno season with the Arthur Miller classic, Death of a Salesman, opening Thursday, November 15th. Directed by Richmond Theatre Critics Circle award-winner Rusty Wilson (Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, 2011; Eurydice, 2009), Death of a Salesman performs at Firehouse Theatre November 15 - December 8.

Charles Simic, one of America's preeminent poets, will give a reading of his poems at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting on Tuesday, October 23 at 7PM. The reading by Simic, who won the Pulitzer Prize for poetry in 1990 and was named the United States Poet Laureate in 2007, will be appearing as part of the studio's Harold Clurman Poetry Reading Series.

The York Theatre Company (James Morgan, Producing Artistic Director) and the company of the hit musical Closer Than Ever will join forces to collect donations following each performance through October 21st to benefit The Avon Foundation for Women in conjunction with the Tenth-Annual Avon Walk for Breast Cancer at York Theatre at Saint Peter's (Citicorp Building, entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).

The Canadian production of the National Theatre of Great Britain's international phenomenon WAR HORSE will conclude its Toronto run on January 6, 2013 at the Princess of Wales Theatre. The production has set a record in Canada as the longest-running professional drama of all time. At the time of closing, the production will have played 368 performances.

The Museum of Modern Art presents Mapping Subjectivity: Experimentation in Arab Cinema from the 1960s to Now, Part III, November 1 through 25, 2012, in The Roy and Niuta Titus Theaters. As in the preceding editions, Mapping Subjectivity looks into the region's largely unknown heritage of auteur, personal, and sometimes experimental film, highlighting kinships in sensibilities, approaches, and poetics across generations and countries. Works selected hail from Algeria, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, and Tunisia, and include film and video, shorts and features, documentary and fiction that reflect a diversity and richness of voices and visual languages. The exhibition is organized by Jytte Jensen, Curator, Department of Film, and Rasha Salti, Independent Curator. Presented in association with ArteEast, New York.

After a successful national theatrical release, Kenneth Del Vecchio's AN AFFIRMATIVE ACT - the first-ever courtroom drama about the legalization of gay marriage - is now available on iTunes and DVD. This historic film, released by Screen Media Films and Universal, will be available on VOD beginning December 4, 2012.
