Beverly, Massachusetts' Caspian has announced a full US headlining tour, beginning on February 16th in Chapel Hill, NC at The Local 506 which will include a stop at San Francisco's annual Noise Pop Festival. The extensive winter tour will showcase Caspian's new album, Waking Season - released this past fall via Triple Crown Records. Beginning on February 16th, Junius (Prosthetic Records) will join Caspian as their main support until March 2nd. Native (Sargent House)will take over the slot of main support until the tour wraps up at Signal Kitchen in Burlington, VT on March 24th.

The Segal Centre for Performing Arts and KPMG are will present the North American premiere of Waiting for the Barbarians by Nobel Prize winning author J.M. Coetzee, a co-production with Mopo Cultural Trust and in association with the Baxter Theatre Centre (South Africa). Adapted and directed by Alexandre Marine and produced by Maurice Podbrey, CM, the play premiered to critical and audience acclaim at Cape Town's Baxter Theatre Centre in August 2012, and will be presented at the Segal Theatre from January 27th to February 17th, 2013.

The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has awarded the Huntington Theatre Company $245,000 so that Huntington Playwriting Fellow Melinda Lopez (Sonia Flew, Becoming Cuba) can join the company's full-time staff as playwright-in-residence. The award is one of 14 residency grants at theatre companies around the US announced this month. Lopez will begin her residency on July 1, 2013.

On one weekend in March 2013, all four of the "Big Baroque" organizations in Houston - Mercury (formerly Mercury Baroque), Ars Lyrica, Da Camera and Houston Early Music - will have back-to-back early music programs. This "lunar eclipse" of Houston's early music leaders is an opportunity for the early music scene that cannot be passed up. The leaders of Mercury, Ars Lyrica and Houston Early Music have created a special promotion - the Houston Baroque Marathon weekend - and have set the stage for a Houston-based, Texas Early Music Festival in spring 2014.

Steinway artist Joel Hastings, assistant professor of piano at Florida State University, and winner of the 1993 International Bach Competition at the Kennedy Center, will present the music of Carter Pann in a guest artist series concert at 8 pm Wednesday, January 16, in Weigel Auditorium, 1866 College Rd. Composer, pianist, and Grammy Award nominee Carter Pann teaches composition at the University of Colorado and will join Hastings on the program, entitled "The Piano's 12 Sides: The Piano Music of Carter Pann."
