Following an afternoon of open-call auditions for kids last month in which more than 500 kids (ages six to 16) were seen, the creative and producing team of GODSPELL selected five boys and five girls (plus one 'swing') to perform a special encore number at the curtain call on Tuesday, May 22. The Los Angeles Philharmonic continues its collaboration with Deutsche Grammophon with the new release of two works by Shostakovich - the world premiere of the Prologue to Orango and Symphony No. 4. Both works, led by LA Phil Conductor Laureate Esa-Pekka Salonen, were recorded live at Walt Disney Concert Hall in December of 2011. The 2-disc set will be available June 19, 2012.

Scottish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Sandi Thom, best known for her 2006 No.1 hit single I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker (With Flowers In My Hair), today confirmed the August 27th release of her fourth studio album Flesh and Blood. Produced by the Black Crowes' Rich Robinson, and featuring a duet with Buffy Sainte-Marie, the album and was recorded at 16 Tons studio, Nashville, Tennessee. Sandi will embark on a nationwide UK tour in support of the new album, which begins at the London Islington Academy on Thursday November 1st 2012.

The American Museum of Natural History will celebrate 105-year-old philanthropist Kathryn W. Davis at a special ceremony and luncheon today to celebrate her generous support of the Museum's new Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) Program, the first freestanding master's degree program offered by a museum to prepare science teachers. The ceremony will also include the official dedication of the new Kathryn W. Davis Science Teaching Classroom, which will be the main educational center for candidates in the MAT program.
