On Monday night, NYC raised much needed funds for this temporary 'home away from home' for pediatric cancer patients and their families. Held at the Waldorf=Astoria, the 20th Annual Gala Event surpassed its goal to raise nearly $3.5 million. ABC-TV broadcast personality Barbara Walters was at the helm of the evening's festivities for the second year in a row.

Based on the international smash-hit film and featuring music by Elton John, book and lyrics by Lee Hall, choreography by Peter Darling and direction by Stephen Daldry, Billy Elliot the Musical has earned critical acclaim around the world and was the winner of ten 2009 Tony Awards including Best Musical.

In celebration of 20 years of creating and performing original multimedia works in and from Pittsburgh, Squonk Opera will be doing 20 free shows all around Pittsburgh this summer, more local shows than they've ever done in a season. They will premiere this next creation - GO Roadshow- at the Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival with shows on June 8, 9 and 10.

Justin Blalock, starting left guard for the Atlanta Falcons, will partner with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra as a spokesman for music education during its "When I Play Music" campaign for music education. Mr. Blalock, who grew up playing tuba at his school, and continues to play drums and guitar, recognizes the impact of both music education and sports on children. He is dedicated to giving back to the youth of Atlanta, and this partnership will unite the educational mission of the Atlanta Symphony with Mr. Blalock's commitment to raise awareness of the benefits of music and sports in the lives of kids.

Chuck Singleton has been named the general manager of WFUV, New York's Rock and Roots station (90.7 FM, www.wfuv.org) licensed to Fordham University. Singleton, currently the station's interim general manager and veteran program director, will hold the permanent position as of July 1, 2012. He assumed the interim post in June 2011.

Bloomington Theatre and Art Center (BTAC) today announced the tap dancing musical 42nd Street. This Bloomington Civic Theatre (BCT) production will run August 17 - September 16, 2012. 42nd Street will be directed and choreographed by Michael Matthew Ferrell, with music direction by Anita Ruth. The cast of 24 includes Larissa Gritti as 'Peggy', C. Ryan Shipley as 'Billy', Michael Fischetti as 'Julian Marsh', and Bonnie Erickson as 'Dorothy Brock'.

The Little Aggies Theatre presents Disney's THE LITTLE MERMAID JR. playing at The Albertville Fine Arts Center starting on June 1 at 7PM for 2 weeks through June 9, 2012. The musical is based on the 2008 Broadway production and the 1989 animated feature film. The cast contains approximately 75 students led by Kelleybrooke Brown, Director and Assisted by Lee White.
