Soul Theatre returns to the Chicago theatre scene with a three-week engagement of Harold Pinter's comedic one-act THE LOVER, directed by Paul Wagar, playing June 28 - July 15, 2012 at A Red Orchid Theatre, 1531 N. Wells St. in Chicago. THE LOVER features Ravi Batista, Carl Lindberg and Mick Weber. Shakespeare Orange County will open their twenty first season with the presentation of RICHARD III. The production runs July 19-August 4 at Garden Grove's open air Festival Amphitheatre ---outside and 'Under the Stars.' Returning to the Festival this season are John Walcutt as Richard, Evelyn Carol Case as Queen Elizabeth and Amanda Zarr as Lady Anne. Veteran company member Carl Reggiardo directs this production.

Broadway In Chicago's Concert moves to Millennium Park this summer. The FREE BROADWAY IN CHICAGO CONCERT will take place on Monday, August 6, 2012 at 6:15 p.m. at the Pritzker Pavilion at Millennium Park. Hosted by ABC-7's Janet Davies, star of 190 NORTH, the concert will feature performances by the iconic rock legend CYNDI LAUPER with members of the cast from the pre-Broadway world premiere of her new musical KINKY BOOTS, Joey from WAR HORSE and Cathy Rigby as PETER PAN.

Seven writers have been selected as finalists in Pride Films and Plays' 2012 Women's Work Contest, which is for works for the stage or screen and written by women with lesbian characters or themes. They are Lynne S. Brandon, Olivia Briggs, Trish Cole, Ilene A. Fischer, Carolyn Gage, Jenny Hagel, and Kari Morris. Their works include two full-length screenplays, two plays, one short screenplay, and two one-act plays.

At the invitation of the International Federation for Choral Music (IFCM), 43 members of the Young People's Chorus of New York City, under its artistic director/founder Francisco J. Núñez, will represent the North American continent at the World Choral Summit in Beijing from July 15 to 18.
