Deadline.com reveals today that Tom Cruise is close to signing a deal with the producers of the ROCK OF AGES film to appear as Stacee Jaxx. In talks to play opposite Cruise is film and stage actress - and upcoming host of the Oscars - Anne Hathaway.

The Hollywood Reporter reveals this morning that Tom Cruise is close to signing a deal with the producers of the ROCK OF AGES film to appear as Stacee Jaxx. It is expect that, as in the stage version, Cruise's character will perform Bon Jovi's 'Wanted Dead or Alive.' Additional stars in talks for the film include Gwyneth Paltrow, Alec Baldwin (in the role of Dennis Dupree), Mary J. Blige and Russel Brand. The film will be directed by Adam Shankman and is being adapted for the screen by it's stage scribe, Chris D'Arienzo.

Access Hollywood reports today that Willow Smith is hopeful that Brad Pitt will play the role of 'Daddy Warbucks' in the upcoming remake of Annie, in which she will star. Pitt has not yet responded to the appeal. As previously reported, Gwyneth Paltrow is set to return as McKinley High's favorite substitute on Fox's GLEE. Jane Lynch previously revealed to TV Guide: 'Gwyneth Paltrow is back. HarperCollins announced today the acquisition of a currently untitled memoir by Barbara Cook, the noted actress, singer, and concert performer. Cook's collaborator will be New York Times theater critic Charles Isherwood. The world rights deal was negotiated by Jonathan Burnham, Senior Vice President and Publisher, Harper, and Rakesh Satyal, Senior Editor, Harper; Cook's manager, Jeff Berger at Jeff Berger Management; and Isherwood's agent, David Kuhn at Kuhn Projects. The book will be published in the fall of 2012, the year of Cook's eighty-fifth birthday.

Producers Philip Morgaman, Anne Caruso/Vincent Caruso, Frankie J. Grande, and James P. MacGilvray have announced that Robert Sean Leonard will star opposite Jim Belushi and Nina Arianda in the upcoming Broadway production of Born Yesterday, a comedy by Garson Kanin, directed by Doug Hughes, at Broadway's Cort Theatre, 138 West 48 Street. The opening night is set for Sunday, April 24.
